Kirito

Kirito is one of 10,000 players trapped in the MMORPG known as Sword Art Online. He's recognized as a “Beater” to others for having restricted beta access before the death game started, and is harshly criticized for this unfair advantage. The skilled swordsman has condemned himself to a life of solitude as a result, and is determined to stay alive and reach Floor 100 to clear the game.

Though he refuses to join a guild and has made enemies along the way, Kirito also has gained several allies: Asuna, who he briefly partnered with, and Klein, a newbie player he helped train at the start of the game. Unlike the majority of Sword Art Online's players who only look out for themselves, Kirito lends a hand to those in need.

I agree with TracksuitYato. There are legitimate reasons for Kirito's capabilities, and several characters can surpass him. Heathcliff allowed him to win the final battle in Aincrad out of pity and curiosity; Kirito would have failed had he not done so. He defeated Oberon solely because Asuna dropped an administrator's pass in hopes of him finding it. Agil rescued Kirito in the second episode of the series, Asuna was the sole reason Kuradeel did not succeed in murdering him, and Kirito would not have defeated Quinella had Eugeo and Chudelkin not participated. In short, Kirito is by no stretch invincible, and he frequently relies on others to accomplish feats. While he was deemed the most powerful player in Aincrad, somebody has to be at the top, do they not? He was an avid gamer for years who beta-tested Sword Art Online, and as a soloist, he seldom needed to concern himself with anybody other than himself, allowing him to focus on leveling up and familiarizing himself with the game's mechanics. He may be a talented fighter, but he is horrible at cooking, and he is socially inept for a hefty fraction of the series. Being extremely powerful does not render one overpowered if said strength can be logically explained by the character in question's circumstances, and this is the case with Kirito. Regarding his harem, people are innately social creatures who need comfort in traumatic situations, and the girls who fawn over him were solitary and depressed when they met him. Kirito is powerful and enigmatic, so it is sensible for people to cling to those who are capable of protecting and consoling them.

I get it, y'all are annoyed that he's OP, I sort of am too, but this guy frickin worked his ass off for it. He went solo because he knew that others would slow him down. You might be strong in numbers, but for individual growth, it's definitely not the best strategy. This guy spent almost every waking moment of his time in SAO grinding. There are a few exceptions, but heck on multiple occasions you see him grinding at night. He spent most of his money on making himself stronger, upgrading his gear, and buying stronger gear. This guy's frickin dedicated, and I admire him for it.

Well he sure has many haters but I like Kirito: people say that he is boring and has no personality but that's a lie. I think in the light novels Kirito is a way better character than he is in the anime, and if you say that he is overpowered you're wrong: he usually rely on someone like Asuna, Eugeo or Klein and he already lost. He isn't the best character in the world but I don't think is the worst character like most of the people say. However I Love him!
