Kirito

Kirito is one of 10,000 players trapped in the MMORPG known as Sword Art Online. He's recognized as a “Beater” to others for having restricted beta access before the death game started, and is harshly criticized for this unfair advantage. The skilled swordsman has condemned himself to a life of solitude as a result, and is determined to stay alive and reach Floor 100 to clear the game.

Though he refuses to join a guild and has made enemies along the way, Kirito also has gained several allies: Asuna, who he briefly partnered with, and Klein, a newbie player he helped train at the start of the game. Unlike the majority of Sword Art Online's players who only look out for themselves, Kirito lends a hand to those in need.

Boring, generic shounen main character with no personality and overpowered just for the plot's sake. For the same inexplicable plot armor reasons, he has a harem of even less well developed female characters who are just there to fawn over him. Kirito, together with SAO as a whole, are written for the sole purpose of appealing to the lonely gamer demographic. He is the embodiment of what a loser who doesn't go outside and has no social interaction would dream to be in real life: a good at everything ladies' man that's also a complete nerd at the same time. Empowerment fantasy at its finest.

I like brave and smart boy, but the way he hanged the girls's feeling made me complicated.

ReviewBonfire Nov 20, 2020

The problem with Kirito is that he has a certain intelligence and satisfactory personality traits.

However, it is almost the definition of 0815 and enormously clichéd.
If he were a protagonist from a better anime, you could certainly get more out of him. But the anime didn't develop it a bit and left it hugely flat from the beginning to the end of season 2.

Likewise, his dialogues, conversations and interactions with other characters. Now and then it doesn't even seem like he's a protagonist.

If you know Saitama, it's about as deep and well-written as Saitama from One Punch Man. But with the difference that Saitama was specially written so empty and shallow.

For anyone who cant understand the reason for his hate, here it is. TONS of wasted potential.

I don't know why so many people hate him. I mean, they're entitled to their own opinion but he's kind, selfless, and funny. I know that sometimes people don't like characters who are OP so maybe that's the reason most of them hate him? Idk I shouldn't assume things just my thoughts on that. My thoughts on him is that he's super kind and selfless, he's funny and a good protagonist with pretty good development and a realistic personality

He doesn't deserve the hate. There's literally no reason to. He's a decent guy and adorable. Idc what y'all say, i love him.
