A listless slacker, Kaiji is completely broke. Desperately trying to make a quick buck, he gambles away large sums of money, only making his situation even worse. Although a working life is not for him, Kaiji can rely on his wits in tight situations. Extremely in touch with his emotions, he is not afraid to be seen crying and his soft, naive nature is often taken advantage of by unsavoury characters.
