I find it hysterical that everyone is obsessed with Mei, the generic and dull girl with no special qualities other than a literal patch of cloth over her differently colored eye, but those same individuals loathe Izumi, the only character who was not a coward and who actually tried to help the class. It is hard to trust someone who behaves in a sketchy manner as it is, especially in such a dire situation. It was survival of the fittest, and trusting anyone in such a scenario is asinine. Everybody would fly off the handle if they saw somebody they trusted dying whilst right next to the subject of their paranoia to begin with. She was by far the most level-headed and gifted character, yet when she loses her composure once, everybody loses their minds. Mei stood by and watched others get hurt, but Izumi actually got up off her butt and did something.
