I understand she is madly in love, but I do not approve that Erika is pushing through a toxic relationship. I disapprove of her as a role model for others to follow. Many times I was annoyed because she lacked self-respect. I would have liked her to be more assertive, to stand up for herself, and to comprehend that she deserves better. I dislike that the anime romanticized this kind of relationship and that I never got to see her get off the role of being treated like a slave/dog. A person is capable of accomplishing greater things for themselves when they prioritize self-care & self-respect than being submissive to their partner.
