He is probably the most powerful soul reaper and he has a calm cool head to boot which makes him doubly effective in combat. He acts aloof but that maybe just a false face he presents to others. He actually cares for his sister and is wise enough to know when things need to be handled slightly off the books. In truth, he is smarter and far wiser than the first captain and may in fact be the wisest character in Bleach next to Kisuke. He is so tough, that he rarely needs to show more than modest force against any enemy.
I love this character! He's cold headed person and that's why he knows exactly what to do and he do it. Like that time when he cut himself with no hesitation. He always mentions his honor and he has every right to do so.
