Having finished the Manga I have so much appreciation for this character. Yeah damn right he's rough around the edges and probably is a total psychopath but I see him as an extremely rough and hard outer shell with a softer more humane inside, which is occasionally showcased in the story.
Also when he beats the shit outta the guy in Kaede House there's no way you can really hate him after that, man has respectable values.
