He's a good person at heart, but his ideals and alignment are always so complicated. And in Destiny, he always struck me as a hero stuck in the middle.
My guy shoulda stayed with Zaft, pull a Suzaku & get up in the ranks and change the organization from within. Literally become Chairman like his father but do a better job, that should've been him.
But he runs, get shot down, gets with ORB then Lacus somehow becomes Chairwoman; Which is "fine" but how does she jump straight to the top???
She was literally just a goddamn Songbird, Athrun had the prior service & Faith, so him becoming Chairman makes more sense.
Lacus & Kira stay on Earth with ORB, Kira becomes Commander or Admiral and Lacus can probably start a podcast or something lol
They just gave him the same arc twice, for nothing. He was sure of his agenda until episode 23 when Kira "fucktard" Yamato showed up then it just went downhill for both Shinn/Athrun and Gundam SEED DESTINY

Perhaps one of the top Deuteragonist (2nd Main Character) in 2000s anime
I really hoped he would end up with Lacus...
An abomination as well as a miserable traitor, easily the worst character in the show.
