I'm glad he got better. He is a mixture of "over sensitive" and painfully aware of how the Japanese business culture is content on using up manpower until they burn out from overwork. He is a representative of the group that is between Millennial and Gen Z, the ones that don't want to settle for the soulless, machine-like drudgery of office work and (in Retsuko's case, unintentionally) abusive hierarchies that seem baked into the system. As soon as Kabae took her him under her wing, he changed and became much less tense because he knew he had a confidante in the department. Anai is many of us, and I'm proud of how he changed himself.
