If you enjoy watching Zombies and the use of supernatural powers to combat them, then both Zombie Loan and Tokyo Majin both offer these, admittedly in entirely different manners, it still refreshing to see a new take on the use of Zombies in a series.

if you like Tokyo Majin Gakuen Kenpuchou Tou then your gonna like  Zombie loan (both ways) they both have fighting and zombies sort of but i think the story is good. There are several key characters with special powers. and Both series have a group of people who are in both cases around the high school age.

Vampire Knight

Vampire Knight

Cross Academy is a school with a difference: in a unique and experimental setup designed by the headmaster, it has a Day Class consisting of ordinary humans and a Night Class filled with vampires. Yuki Cross and her friend Zero Kiryu are school prefects whose job it is to make sure the secret of the Night Class is always safe; they patrol the school grounds at night and supervise the switchover of classes at dawn and dusk to prevent any 'accidents' from happening. While Zero is suspicious of vampires and hates the idea of sharing the same space as them, Yuki admires the Night Class for their beauty and sophistication; she is especially intrigued by their charming leader, Kaname, because he once saved her life. However, as Yuki quickly learns, not all vampires are amiable like the Night Class, and as terrible events unfold, Yuki must ask herself whether in a world where vampires are the hunters and humans are the prey, peaceful coexistence can really be achieved.

Both animes are about a silly and god-for-nothing girl who crossed her lifepath with two men who are not normal humans. They fight with the demons and other things like that. For the girl is hard to concentrate on choosing with which she want to spend her life, etc. If you like series about one girl, two men and demons you will like what I recommend.

Both have a similar feel to them. Trying to focus on combat but getting side tracked by personal emotons (Vampire Knight more so than Zombie-Loan). They blend the elements well enough. Zombie-Loan doesn't have as clear cut of a protagonist as Vampire Knight and thus the story tells itself in a slightly different manner.

Fruits Basket

Fruits Basket

Tohru Honda is a compassionate girl who is down on her luck. Her mother having recently died, she has been forced to camp out in the woods for shelter. However, things start to turn around once she is invited to live with class hunk Yuki Sohma and his family... but all is not as it seems! Yuki's family is burdened with a dark curse which causes them to turn into the animals of the Chinese zodiac once hugged by a member of the opposite sex... and Honda may be the only one who can help them.

Zombie-Loan reminds me of Fruits Basket mainly because Shito is a lot like Yuki and Chika is a lot like Kyo.

Two almost opposite guys who pretty much hate each other have to hang around each other and be 'friends' because of their shared bizarre existence and it's usually gets pretty violent between them.

oh and they both have a doughy and comparatively boring and useless female lead.

..but Zombie-Loan has zombies and some rather raunchy lesbian scenes so i guess there are some differences.

hamletsmage hamletsmage says...

Both of these anime have a dynamic duo who really want to punch each other in the face. Kyo/Yuki or Shito/Chika. Their fire and ice personalities make up for some rather spectacular cat-fights (sorry, Kyo, no pun intended). On top of that, there are other character similaries between the top anime. So, zombie fighting aside, the anime could be identical.

Highschool of the Dead

Highschool of the Dead

When the infected approached Rei and Takashi's school, it led to a gruesome blood bath that left the majority of students and staff dead or turned into the zombie-like monsters that have spread throughout the world. Together with a handful of other survivors, Rei and Takashi set forth to find their families in a world that is rapidly detoriating. Governments have collapsed, the killer disease is out of control, and people everywhere are trying their best to simply live through each day...

There is not as much gore in Zombie Loan as in HighSchool of the Dead but it deals with zombies and there aren't that many anime tha tdeal with zombies. Both series are great in their own way though.

Zombie fighting high schoolers, gun and sword fighting, and some interesting characters. While High School of the Dead has a little more ecchi, Zombie-Loan dabbles with it as well.

Buso Renkin

Buso Renkin

Some things in life are so bad that you'd like to pretend they're just a dream. Unfortunately for Kazuki, trying to save a strange girl from being brutally killed by monsters (and ending up dying instead) is an unfortunate reality. Out of pity, the girl replaces Kazuki's heart with an alchemy-based artifact known as Kakugane, so that he may live on. With this strange device, Kazuki gains the power of Busou Renkin -- Arms Alchemy; a power that will come in handy when monsters (and worse) begin to plague his town! Kazuki soon meets the girl from his “dream” (named Tokiko) in reality, and she tells Kazuki to get on with his life; but with his sister and friends in danger, that might not be possible. Besides, if Kazuki gives up the chance to show off just how manly he can be, how can he hope to win the heart of the alluring older-sister-like Tokiko?!

Busou Renkin and Zombie Loan are not the same in the way of one action series is like the other. Rather these two have a great deal in common throughout their underlying characteristics. The characters in both series are all about determination. You need a lot of willpower to save the world, and you need a lot of willpower to save yourself. Different goals, but the same work ethic is required. These shows share that sort of effort, suffer a bit, and achieve some goal on the way to the end. There is also a shared quirky sense of (dare I call it) humor. Weirdness and bizarre twists abound. One episode of each is enough to see some of the "must have been smoking crack" plot management as well.

Ayatsuri Sakon

Ayatsuri Sakon

Tachibana Sakon is a skilled puppeteer with an unusual hobby: solving murders. Along with Ukon, a one-of-a-kind puppet made in the Meiji era, Sakon manages to find himself in a variety of life-threatening situations. Join the duo as they put their detective skills to the test in terrifying cases of revenge, malice, and murder.

Both Zombie Loan and Ayatsuri Sakon can be classified as horror anime with perhaps a bit of mystery. The characters are unique and fun and incredibly easy to love, but are completely difficult to understand to the very end. Enjoy them both, I am sure you will!

Gungrave

Gungrave

Brandon Heat and Harry MacDowel were best friends who lived by the law of the street, until one day they picked a fight with the wrong people and their life of freedom was suddenly taken away. Both of these series have something to do with coming back to life. They deal with the adventures and treacheries of the afterlife. Both are action packed. However, Zobie-loan offers a bit of comic relief where as Gungrave is more serious. None the less, both are fantastic and both should be seen. So go watch them!

As soon as I watched Zombie Loan it reminded my instantly of Hellsing. In each, a female character is dragged through into a gloomy underworld of which they previously knew nothing. Their past lives now lost and left behind, they will meet plenty of strange creatures with amazing powers, both friendly and not so friendly.

They will be guided along the way in part my a 'master' figure - Alucard in Hellsing and Shito and Chika in Zombie Loan, who all work for an organization that fights against the supernatural forces that threaten our world. Despite feeling a connection to these men, our heroines are not always treated well, and all three men seek to keep parts of their history well hidden. Expect plenty of gun-toting and sword-wielding action as the protagonists seek out and tackle new threats, with more reveals about the mysterious Alucard, Shito and Chika in each episode.
