During Fall 2010 I found myself uniquely drawn to this title Yosuga no Sora, I had read a expectation of it on a iPod application which I have been using for a while now to rate and choose what I would watch, had I known that it would have turned out to be a borderline-H I may have reconsidered, I’m glad I didn’t. For all its worth Yosuga no Sora was surprisingly a really enjoyable anime –however I wouldn’t recommend it too innocents and those who hate perversion/ nudity- and I had a great time watching it.

Story:

Interestingly enough the story of Yosuga no Sora was good, I would even say great. The story follows an omnibus format pretty similar to that of Kanon and Amagami SS, in which the protagonist spends ‘arcs’ with each of the females, as to provide most situations which occur in the Visual Novel versions. I found that each arc had an interesting story; I particularly liked the last arc and the second arc, as they display the greatest depth of character in the main character –Haru- and the female pairing. The stories, regardless of being disjointed each arc provides useful information for the following arc which makes watching it in order enjoyable. The arcs follow a simple pattern: introduction of the female protagonist, discovering their ‘problem,’ the two working together to resolve the female’s problem and then a sex scene. Unfortunately this last part, I believe, ruined the awesome feeling that was created (maybe cause I’m a wuss like that XP). I had only one problem with the story; that is each arc developed really quickly, and left a School Days effect on me, causing me to doubt if it was really love or just lust.  But on a side note, I commend the Motoka arc as it manage to develop a decent story –minus the abundance of sex- in five minute sections after the first ending song.

Animation:

As all anime coming out in very recent years the style is neat, clean and crisp –so much so, watching Beck hurt my eyes- I think the animation of the recent animes is what keeps me watching them regardless of how stupid the story gets, there are a few scenes –particularly of Sora- which seem recycled which lets down the appeal of the anime, but in the bigger picture I don’t think that matters. Furthermore the ‘sex’ scene were done in a way that didn’t leave the audience disturbed (providing they are not already disturbed) showing very minimal amounts and not showing too much, this I believe redeemed the anime somewhat, as I didn’t feel all that wrong after the end of each arc. In addition the uses of chibis in the five minute segments were hilarious and awesome; the highlight being Akira’s massive head, especially when Akira consumes an entire WHALE in one of the five minute segments.

Sound:

Simply, I loved it, the mood created was amazing each piece used was perfect for each situation. An example being, during the Nao arc, Sora and Nao meet in the bus shelter, dark music plays as they talk, only to be enhanced but an ominous premonition sometime bad was going to happen, School Days was definitely coming to mind at this point. The opening, is a beautiful, light-hearted song ( I apologise if the lyric contradict this) and was a drawing point to keep watching the anime, this paired with the second ending (Pinky Jones by Momoiro Clover) made the sounds part of this anime amazing, I remember the agony my friend and I endured waiting for Pinky Jones to be released so we could listen to the ‘awesomeness’ of it, the first ending, is sad and reflective and emphasises the dramatic parts of the episode before it.

Characters:

Though vaguely School Days like, I loved most of them. The cast is large and varied to appeal to all viewers with their unique traits. My favourites had to be the mysterious but extremely kind Kazuha and the energetic (in more ways than one) Motoka. Each characters distinct traits and histories made each arc feel similar enough, yet completely different at the same time. The main protagonist, Haru, seems typical but conveyed deep emotions in some of the arcs, making the series quite enjoyable to watch.

Overall:

Not for everyone, simply said, some will like it, others will hate it. But for those who can endure through the sex scenes and incest themes, the anime is extremely enjoyable and worth watching.

Story: Curse my unfortunate soul for expecting something like Amagami SS (Roughly the same format), but I didn't get my floating in a forest like in the OP, or much floating at all. That's a big problem right there as the OP decieved me. Pushing that minor problem aside, it felt that things were moving a bit too quickly and that I couldn't really get a heartfelt emotional feel about the relationships. I like my romance stuff to make me feel the love, to make me care. While I did feel notes of sadness and happiness here and there, it wasn't enough to make it a song of emotions.

When it says "explicit content", it's referring to Bitches Haru getting laid at the end of every arc. Mostly. But he gets some in each arc there is. It's not much of a problem, but it's like he wins them over so quickly, and that all five of the dames want his bones within the first 15 minutes. Power of the bishounen, but it's strange that they all like him off the bat, although it's forgiven somewhat as a few are childhood friends.

At first, I was a bit confused at the layout of the episodes at first, as it wasn't entirely linear. But after careful examination of the wikipedia entry of it, the first episode lays the groundwork for all the main episode arcs that follow it and that an episode at the start of a new arc may be the second for two females. It's actually kinda clever and unique in how it chooses this route instead of the standard four episodes for each gal, and then four more afterward. Clever, but initially confusing.

While the main story might not have won me over, the absurd, perverted lunacy of the omakes at the end of every episode certainly did. This is where the explicit content comes in full force, which makes every episode have the obligatory boob shot, complete with nipples. And it's another arc in disguise; a sex-filled sleazy arc of comedic hijinks with the saucy maid, so you're getting a bonus arc, you lucky dog.

Animation: This is where most of the budget went: to making gorgeous scenery, bouncing, gorgeous characters and CG fans. Not that I have a problem with 3/4, as it really looks quite good. The countryside with it's gorgeous greens and scenic lake behind the shrine, the blue of the obligatory beach episode's ocean (Or sea. Water) and the buildings in their living area that look so old-school and traditional.

The bouncing for the more well-endowed characters does get a bit absurd at times but it's to be expected from something like this. Only adds to the atmosphere. But have to give props to Sora's white dresses, which look gorgeous.

And those fans? So out of place.

Sound: The OP made my expectations higher than I wished in the first episode, when it got to it. It's just so beautiful, makes it feel laid-back and romantic. It's only fitting that the EP should do it justice and make a sandwich of delicious bread, but we get two for the price of one, both equally good with their different moods. It does make it more bearable, if only for a few more minutes.

Characters: For a romance, characters are the jelly to the tale's peanut butter. They're key to making you emotionally invested and that's what I seek. If this had good enough characters, then I could have excused the plot. Unfortunately... that wasn't so for me. Haru switches modes a few times, going from nice guy to shy and to Jerk McDouche once or twice. I don't mind his nice guy trait but the durastic shift in his personality for those one or two instances was kinda revolting, or unappealing.

Just because we get to know about the love-interests doesn't mean that it makes them better. It devolves to them being easy to tame in the three episodes they get (First is to set the foundations) and easy to get into their pants. It's the final flag, for him to truly become a macho man through the manly, chauvinistic standard. They just didn't appeal to me, simple as that.

Overall: I may not have liked it that much but I admit that I had fun. Fun in the "This is so ridiculous/Can't take this seriously" kind of way. Have to give it points for that. Can't say that I recommend this in the end as there are better romance anime to watch with this kind of style.

The omakes... damn I enjoyed those.

Incest is bad, kids. Do not try it at home.

Yosuga no Sora

This anime could become pretty good one, 8/10 maybe even 9/10, because of incest it is really unusual and original anime and that`s important for every good show. But the story just sucks. Music is amazing, yet not suited for ecchi anime, animation is average, characters are normal, plot however is much worse. It is more likely you will treat it as hentai than good show full of story.

This show follows more than one way of the story and thats kinda rare, at least I have never seen that in anime (In VN, thats something different though.) In other words, instead of giving every episode to that cute, grown-up, rich lady, who is no doubtly best chracter, Yosuga no Sora focuses on each of main girls, including MC's little sister, and this multiple story leads to kind of cut-off ends of every rout... That was first slap in my face.

Another slap came with sex scenes.. Ahh.. Those were funny. It was too much for ecchi anime, yet too little for hentai. Just weird.

And here comes The End. Last episode was too rushed and has not given us any answers. At the end you won't know a shit about what has happened to MC and his sister. It has just ended.

So if you want to watch this anime as hentai, then you wont be satisfied. If you want to watch it as harem, ecchi anime with good plot though, then you wont be satisfied as well. But if you don't expect any decent story then go ahead.

wtf did i just watch

like seriously first it seems pretty innocent and nice like "heres a nice calm harem anime with beautiful scenery and even a gurren lagann reference how nice" straight to fuckin "INCEST SEX MULTIPLE TIMES WITH A GUY WHO CANT PICK A GIRL SO HE FUCKS THEM ALL!! NOT TO MENTION IT WAS TECHNICALLY RAPE AT LEAST 2 TIMES!! BTW RIGHT AFTER A FUCKING SEX SCENE SOMEONE TRIES TO COMMIT SUICIDE!!" like holy shit dude

so if that wasnt enough, big parts of the story are left to inference and interpretation and its super hard to follow

and the sound design sucks

dont watch this show like goddamn

Let me start by blowing off some steam. Here goes. What FUCKER thought that this was a good idea. Who in there right minds would make an anime like this. I wasted 3 hours of my life watching 10 episodes of this shit and I wish I could have them back.

The story starts off pretty normally. It seemed like your average slice of life anime until, you experience the first time lapse. The short 12 episode anime is divide into multiple arcs where some even overlap. The anime the takes a turn toward something like Garden of Grisaia(great anime;strong stomach required) the main character Haruka helps the girl he sees with a problem they are have. The problem gets solved, everyone is happy, and then Haruka fucks the girl. He does this multiple times. Until he eventually gets around to his sister. The sister is unique is a way because *spoiler* her problem is that she see her brother fucking other women but won't fuck her. The incest doesn't get serious until episode 9, but there is plenty of other stuff along the way woo-hoo :(

The characters. Where do I start. I told you plenty about little pimp Haruka and his thirsty sister Sora, so let's talk about Nao the hoe. Nao the I couldn't wait so I got fucked at 6.*Spoiler* Haruka did the fucking. Who would have guessed? Most of the other characters are just people who get fucked by Haruka.

The audio and animation where great but I end up turning off the volume because the moaning was getting to me. As for there beautiful animation I would prefer not to watch Haruka fuck his sister in stunning detail.

I'll be honest there are some good things the anime did unfortunately they all involved Haruka fucking someone.
