A Certain Magical Index

Touma Kamijou's right hand has the ability to nullify any form of supernatural power, whether it be magical, psychic, or divine; he lives in a city populated by students with these powers. Yet unfortunately for Touma, his arm also seems to nullify good luck. Despite his bad luck, the boy tries to stay out of trouble and just live out his life, trying to be the "good guy" whenever he can; but trouble enters his life one day when he finds a young girl hanging on his balcony. She turns out to be a nun of the Church of England, bearing the Index-Librorum-Prohibitorum - a collection of 103,000 forbidden texts, and as a result has a number of people after her. How far will Touma go to protect his new companion from her pursuers?

both animes have a MC that dispels any magic power, though Touma has a much wider universe than Koyomi.

It is similar but still different but still think it is as good as Index & think it had a good potential.

"Yoku Wakaru Gendai Mahou" is a little disarranged, think that in a linear time line it should be:

episodes 2,3,episodes 1,5,6,episodes 7,4 & episodes 8-12

AardvarkRex AardvarkRex says...

Both series have a loli magician as one of the main characters being chased by baddie mages who are trying to get a hold of a large library of powerful spells. Both also blend magic with modern technology. There's action and comedy in both, as well as some loli fanservice.

Both of these shows have an adorable cast that are best describe as being cute, warm, fuzzy, slightly clusmy and ditzy (in other words, "moe" if you want an otaku-term for it ^^). They both leave you with a fuzzy feel-good kind of emotion, and although they might not be the most epic-awesomest show ever, they will certainly bring a cute smile to your face simply because the cast are just ADORABLE~~!! XD

Yoku Wakaru Gendai Mahou and Asura Cryin are both fantasy series taking place in modern Japan and where magic and good'ole clichés doesn't seem so out of place. Clumsy moe, flashy fights, and not much of a story; I doubt any of those shows will make it to anyone's top 5, but they can be very enjoyable if you just turn your brain off and enjoy the ride.

He only attends the minimum necessary to pass his classes, and rarely leaves his cramped room except to purchase the newest figurines. One evening, while Takumi is chatting online with his friend "Grim," a stranger called "Shogun" joins the channel and, after "Grim" leaves, posts a series of disturbing photographs depicting a man impaled to a wall with metal stakes. The following day, Takumi is horrified when he wanders into an alley and once again sees Shogun’s images – but this time, the gruesome scene is reality. From then on, Takumi sees the world through a new set of eyes; imaginary delusions meld with reality, and he isn't sure who he can trust. With suspicions and confusion at every turn, Takumi must struggle to determine what's going on - but most importantly, whose eyes are those eyes?

Both shows try to be very interesting but tend to lack comunicating that to the viewer. While the animation in both are pretty good that's about all you will be left enjoying in both. Both anime have flat and typical characters that we've all seen before in other anime. Yoku Wakaru Gendai Mahou tries to be more ecchi but Chaos;Head has more perversion. If you for some reason liked one check out the other.

Steins;Gate

Steins;Gate

The eccentric mad scientist Okabe, his childhood friend Mayuri, and the otaku hacker Daru have banded together to form the Future Gadget Research Laboratory, and spend their days in a ramshackle laboratory hanging out and occasionally attempting to invent incredible, yet generally useless, futuristic gadgets. However, their claymore is a hydrator and their hair dryer flips breakers, and the only invention that’s even remotely interesting is their Phone Microwave, which transforms bananas into oozing green gel. But when an experiment goes awry the gang discovers that the Phone Microwave can also send text messages to the past. And what's more, the words they send can affect the flow of time and have unforeseen, far-reaching consequences...

This is a bit of an odd pair, but my excuse for recommending them is that both YWGM and Steins;Gateboth feature a lot of technology and gadgets, such as cellphones and computers. Yoku Wakaru has way more magical girl action, but if you like your codes, you might give it a shot too.

C³

Haruaki Yachi has seen his fair share of curses, but despite his familiarity, even Haruaki is out of his element when his father mails him a cursed torture cube with the humanoid figure of a cute young girl named Fear Kubrick (no relation). Now, he’s got to help her break her curse and leave behind her homicidal past before dangerous forces get ahold of her deadly powers. Sassy loudmouth Fear has a hard time keeping a low profile, but with the help of Haruaki’s other cursed comrades, maybe this cubed cutie can find her place in the human world - IF she can break her curse in C3!
