Set in feudal Japan, half-demon twins Towa and Setsuna are separated from each other during a forest fire. While desperately searching for her younger sister, Towa wanders into a mysterious tunnel that sends her into present-day Japan, where she is found and raised by Kagome Higurashi’s brother, Sota, and his family. Ten years later, the tunnel that connects the two eras has reopened, allowing Towa to be reunited with Setsuna, who is now a demon slayer working for Kohaku. But to Towa’s shock, Setsuna appears to have lost all memories of her older sister. Joined by Moroha, the daughter of Inuyasha and Kagome, the three young women travel between the two eras on an adventure to regain their missing past.
It's weird how this anime has four stars when its absolute crap. I love Inuyasha but making this was so unnecessary. The story is all over the place and there isn't really a clear focus or goal. We never get to see any of the old characters and when we do its for a short scene. I also find it weird how its mostly focused on Towa and Setsuna rather than Moroha who is the daughter of Inuyasha and Kagome. Every episode feels like filler and the anime has failed to make me give a shit about the characters and "story."The character designs are really only the good things about Yashahime which makes sense considering its the only part Rumiko Takahashi actually worked on. I know this review feels more like a rant but I'm just so disappointed about this anime. We really should have got a Ranma or Maison Ikkoku reboot.
If you are expecting this anime to be anything like Inuyasha prepare to be disappointed. This anime's poor character development tends to leave you wondering what is going on. I just finished episode 6 and the main story line is still unclear. I can only hope it gets better, however it seems this won't be a great continuation of a fun and entertaining series. Update: As of episode 10 I am dropping this anime giving it half a star. I had really looked forward to the continuation of Inuyasha, but this anime has proven to be a confusing mess. Poor character development and a weak storyline are the main issues.
Sadly I can only see this anime as not-as-good-as-Inuyasha. The plot is not clear, the characters don't seem to have a mission or goal to accomplish, the character building and development is poor. Chapter after chapter all we see is the MCs fighting with random demons. What keeps me watching it is the faith that it will get better because I liked Inuyasha very much.
