Both series rely heavily on shoujo-ai as a plot device and as an emotional outlet. The main characters are almost counterparts in each series; Himeko (KNM) and Hatsumi (Yamibou) form a type that is played against Chikane (KNM) and Hatsuki (Yamibou), to the point that they even look alike. KNM has been hailed as Yamibou's successor and rightly so.

YamiBou and Kannazuki no Miko are similar in many ways, you see it already with the main characters. The two females have long hair, one blonde, and one black haired one. But I think the main reason why I think you'd like one if you liked the other is the plain yuri-ness! Kannazuki no Miko has mecha and excellent OP/ED songs.

Cetonis Cetonis says...

Kannazuki and Yamibou are an obvious comparison, being two shoujo-ai series with heavy drama and a massive cheese factor. Whether or not the drama is good enough to overcome said cheese is a matter that makes each a love/hate affair. If you're on the love side for one, there's little reason not to try the other.

mementomori mementomori says...

You'll love this one :] Mecha, supernatural, love, trials, drama. Everything ^v^ If you like Yamibou, you'll also like Kannazuki No Miko. Lots of themes and genres that you're looking for is here. Moreover, Yamibou and KNM have almost look alike characters. They never get far though. That innocent and pure love, I surely recommend both.

YamiBou and Megami Paradise paradise have a lot of things in common: fanservice, magic, action and no pesky boys or plot to get in the way of oogling the fine female cast. Honestly both of these shows can be fun. Megami Paradise is fun in the leave your brain at home category. YamiBou is fun in the enjoy a meandering journey through a bizarre worlds category. Different yet similar.

A journey through stange circumstances and odd places, with many curious events along the way, undertaken by innocent-seeming but oddly powerful and mysterious people. An odyssey seemingly without a definite goal, but with a slow realization that it is not random. Humor, charm, and a certain bit of sexual tension. Secrets, secrets and more secrets.

Yes, both YamiBou and Popotan have all these elements. If you like one, you'll probably like the other.

Well, first off, the two shows originate from visual novels made by the same company (ROOT). They also share the same director (Yuji Yamaguchi), music composer (Tada Akifumi), animation studio (Studio Deen) and character designer. Plus, the main characters from YamiBou return in Touka Gettan for a single episode, just enough to give you a glimpse of the world they live in. Both shows also use shoujo-ai as their main theme (and hints of incest, though it doesn't necessarily go far). They're both very underrated shows that most (if not all) shoujo-ai fan will love.

In both Yami to Boushi... and Akuma no Riddle you'll find your tomboy'ish teenage girl fighting, risking her life for that special girl she vowed to protect... Obviously, both series have some very apparent yuri vibes, and while I think AnR is a better produced show, Yamibo has a much more interesting story to tell. If you happened to like one of those two, I strongly believe you would also like the other since they complement each other so well.
