As a young bear, Yamatarou tragically lost both his mother and father, leaving him alone in the hands of the humans who rescued him. Now, after being sold to a cruel merchant who exploits the cub for profits, Yamatarou passes his time bonding with C6, a steam locomotive that comes to town frequently, while also trying his best to figure out how to escape. Will Yamatarou ever find his way back to his home in the forest?
When people think of bad dubs this anime has got to be in the top 10 if not the top 5. The most normal voice of the bunch is the one for the locomotive, C6. As far as the story goes it's a classic humans killing for pleasure causing an orphan animal to become a pet plot. Treated poorly by just about everyone human Yamatarou comes incontact with it's a talking locomotive who becomes his first [and only real] friend. The steam engine wants to help the young bear get back where he belongs. Humans continue to be despicable creatures who hunt the brown bear into adulthood and force a confrontation between friends. Since this anime is less than 30 minutes it's pretty fast-paced but packed with sadness, while it features a cuddly looking animal who talks it's really not for children. It's a message for adults, hunters and pet owners alike.
