freakzilla freakzilla says...

In the future, the human race is being invaded by strange creatures. To survive, humanity must seek protection in the form of highly-evolved weapons. In both Evangelion and Vandread, the emphasis isn't on the action, but rather the story and plot development. The only letdown in Xenosaga is that if you haven't played the games, there will be some loose ends.

Vandread

In order to survive, our heroes must fight strange creatures which threaten their existence. Well-animated space battles show us how well futuristic weaponry works against the foes. Vandread has more of an emphasis on fighting, but it's something that can't be neglected in Xenosaga either.

Androids can be very powerful weapons, but some people are unsuare about these weapons and their mental stability. While Xenogears is more futuristic, both offer a somewhat similar idea.

Shion Uzuki and Aki Ross are two science-driven ladies who, as part of a team, will have to use force along with intelligence in order to combat the mysterious life forms that plague their universes, as well as combat threats from people supposedly on their side.

Their enemies are quite similar in that not much is known about them or how they appeared, and the story is driven largely by the quest for this information. These entities have almost ‘ghost-like' qualities so you can be sure that you will not be seeing the usual kind of gunfights, and both plots follow similar ideas in terms of how best to deal with this threat. Both Anime also feature a ‘super-weapon' - a beam type cannon with the potential to cause massive damage, but violence is not always the only option.

Mix together one part alien invasion, one part government cover-up, and just a dash of girl-love and you have the makings of a rampaging anime. Though short, the action hardly ever stops. (Though when it does stop for a moment it's so the girls can have a little face time.)
