Bubblegum Crisis has a similar feel to Weiss Kreuz, in that it has a group of four female vigilantes trying to save the city from boomers, whereas Weiss is a group of four males saving the city from an evil corporate family. Of course, girls in skin tight power suits is never a bad thing either!

From the Knight Sabers in BGC2040, to the group of assassins Weiss, both groups battle their enemies. The four bishounen in Weiss take out evil corporation heads and corrupt people, and the 4 cuties in BGC2040 knock around berserk robots as a passtime. Like one and you'll like both.

Assassin animes. If it isn't a genre, it should be. The mysterious animes - Noir and Weiss - both draw you in with secrets, good music and intense scenes. While Noir tends to stick to present style themes, while Weiss dabbles a bit with futuristic ideas, if you've watched one you'll like the other.

aldat aldat says...

Both Noir and Weiss Kreuz are stories of people who kill to live...and to be honest Noir is much better one. There are always deep roots of pain, that lay behind the characters of these kind of series, and outside the small circe of people the main characters trust the world is a cold place in which they don't really belong.

Like Weiss Kreuz, Get Backers is about a couple of guys trying to get back stolen things for people, only in Backers they live in a pizza parlor instead of a flower shop. Still yet, they must fight against mafia type families or groups with specialized weapons/powers.

Bus Gamer

Bus Gamer

In the underbelly of the corporate world, a secret series of battles takes place called the Bus Game, whose participants are solicited randomly via letters in the mail. During the games, teams of three attempt to take into their possession a disk filled with corporate secrets; the winners are given increasingly high cash rewards, while the losers get nothing - or worse, they lose their lives. Toki, Kazuo and Nobu make up the "no name" team, and their goal is to win one billion yen each. Each has a reason to need the money and a secret, disturbing past; but with high stakes and mysterious employers, they can only hope to leave the game alive.

I really wasn't a fan of Weiss Kreuz (the little I saw), and I'm not a huge fan of Bus Gamer either. Regardless, each of these anime has a very, very similar feel and character interactions. The stereotypical bishounen boys will seem like spitting images of each other, and in general the confusing mix of quirkyness and seriousness will seem similar to you.

Nocturnalgloria Nocturnalgloria says...

Weiss Kreuz and Gunslinger Girl tackle the assassin genre by focusing on the killers themselves. In both cases we have tragic pasts that force the characters to become killers and the moral consequences of this are experienced by a highly emotionally damaged cast. GG treats its subject manner in a more convincing and heart wrenching way while WK borders on angst fest with hints of cheesy moments thrown in but both have enough in common to warrant this recommendation.

Meine Liebe

It was a time of political instability. Follow the lives of the five students with the potential to become the king's next advisors (known as the Strahl candidates), as they strive to achieve their dreams.

Nocturnalgloria Nocturnalgloria says...

It is difficult to pin down exactly what makes Weiss Kreuz and Meine Liebe so similar since one deals with hitmen in the modern world while the other takes place in a academy in a vaguely historical setting but they share a certain atmosphere. The almost all male ensemble that has to interact and cooperate in close quarters as well as the contrasting personalities add an air of drama, the characters' backgrounds that are brought to weight on the narrative and the overall feeling make these titles reminiscent of each other. Those who were able to turn a blind eye to the flaws of one are likely to enjoy the other.

Both series follow the premise of wandering souls kept from going forward in life by their horrible pasts.

Many of the characters in Weiss have very similar additudes to those in Saiyuki. Aya/Sanzo the anal-retentive "leader"  , Schulidich/Gojyo resident flame-haired cocky know-it-all. Both series also share voice actor Seki Toshihiko.

However there are also many difference between both series which make them enjoyable for any viewer. While Weiss has a generally serious tone with occasional laughs from random flowershop fangirls or Youji's incessant flirting, Saiyuki has rather dramatic shifts from histerical laughter to extreme drama. Both series have great back stories for each of the main characters which is probable the greatest simlarity between the series. There also seems to be quite a few fans which intently follow both series.
