FIRST IMPRESSIONS: On the surface, Urara Meirochou doesn't look to be anything more than another cheap ecchi show in a sea of so many already but contrary to the less than risqué image the show shows to be innocent enough and downright charming.  The show isn't breaking any new ground with anime it is kind of "cute girls who do cute things" so if that isn't your thing this won't be for you but the story is present about girls who come to a town to learn how to be divination artists. Two episodes in the show is showing to be fun and a little heartwarming and endearing with our main character, Chiya hoping to reunite with her long lost mother.  The drama scenes aren't heavy and the show is mostly comedy relying on slapstick and goofy imagery at times but the tonal shifts feel natural and welcome to make everything a nice balance.  The plot also avoids pitfalls of falling into cheap fan service simply because Chiya is unaccustomed to "proper ways" beyond lifting her shirt to show her belly as a means of apologizing and that's as far as it goes. The bond forming between our group of lovable goofballs will probably be as fun and as endearing as it was in shows such as K-ON! before it and I will very much enjoy the show. UC is a pleasant surprise it may not be amazingly innovative but it's charming enough to be worth a watch for some good old slice of life warm fuzzies.

If there is no 2nd season this rating drops to 8. This anime is fun. Chiya is looking for her mom each of the girls want to be a urara its a different thing I like that its all female and I like the backstories. Fingerscrossed for 2nd season.

*Overall this is a very chill anime and everything in the anime enhances this relaxed feeling from the animation and the characters to the overall storyline. Seeing the girls progress as fortune tellers with all the misunderstandings and hilarious skits made UM a fun anime to watch. And it’s especially fun to watch if you’re a fan of moe anime’s. Every character in UR is female each being more cute and moe than the previous. *But unfortunately the moe characters couldn't fill the hole that I fell when it came to the story. Following their daily lives and their progress is fun but I was expecting to see more development when it came to Chiya’s mother. By the end of this anime we know very little about Chiya’s mother or the special divining ability that Chiya possesses. I remember that I said in my First Impressions of UR that I could see some potential drama when it came to Chiya’s mother. So there I was a bit disappointed but hey the anime wanted to take the fun, moe path instead of the more dramatic path. Conclusion So as a conclusion, as I said UM isn’t a super special anime but rather a very relaxing and fun anime that you would end your evening with. So overall I‘m going to give Urara Meirochou a moderate rating of 3 stars. This isn’t the biggest recommendation that I will ever make especially since this anime is far from complete.
