The sexually masochistic yakuza boss, Yashiro, isn't the type to warm up to others easily. But when Chikara Doumeki, his newly hired bodyguard, catches his interest, he reconsiders his "hands-off" policy with subordinates. As Yashiro's invitations fail, the yakuza boss finds out his bodyguard has a very personal reason for staying at arm's length.
I have been a follower of the manga for quite a while now, and I must say this movie exceeded my expectations for the film. The film stays very true to the tone and intensity of the source material. I expected the sexual content to be heavily edited but was pleasantly surprised how the scenes weren't watered down. While there are no genitals shown in the film basically everything else is. The animation is beautiful. The coloring and the art style really brought the original art to a whole new level. The soundtrack compliments the tone of the film so well, using jazz as the genre was perfect. This movie is set to be the first of a three-part trilogy, so the movie's ending leaves you wanting more, but it does end at a good stopping point in the overall story. Please be aware if you are not familiar with the source material that this is a dark, explicit, and mature themed film. There are depictions of child sexual abuse in the movie, the scenes are short but are present in the film twice. This film makes me excited not only for the rest of the trilogy but other projects that Blue Lynx will produce because the film quality was so high.
Absolutely beautiful! ♡ I've been following this BL for like 6 years now, so, i can proudly say it's pretty well adapted to the point of being a great surprise! (I was really worried of getting a bad quality movie since this BL is such a staple story for me). I can't think of any seiyuus more qualified for this job, every one fits perfectly with the character. The background music was fitting as well and the ending song made me cry like a little b?tch! ♡ I wholeheartedly encourage you to start the manga from the beginning so you can enjoy every little detail that couldn't get into the movie!. So, overall a pretty solid movie, i'm so excited for the second part! ♡
I heard about this anime through a post on Tumblr - so I walked into in blindly. Overall, I'm glad I did. Was definitely a little surprised by the gay sex, but I was too invested in the plot to ditch at that point. The great translation stood out to me the most. Personally, I have a hard time understanding jokes, especially when from another language. The translator notes in this anime really helped the jokes land, which gave the characters more personality. Character-wise, I think the movie was rather unique. Most BL couples come with a staple stereotype, so it was refreshing to see something new. I do think it was a little odd how many characters were gay, though, but who knows! It added more to the story, and left less room for characters to have prejudice. For the plot, I did find myself getting left behind a few times. Not enough to make me rewind, or anything, but enough for me to be slightly confused. I'm sure if I had read the manga I wouldn't have this problem, though. And to be honest, I'd rather be confused than have the plot pain-stakingly explained to me. I really enjoyed the music. The wrong tune can really ruin the scene, but this anime had no problem with that. I do wish they'd incorporated the ending song more into the movie though - it was so good! edit: just rewatched for the third time. Things make SO MUCH more sense after reading the manga. Changing my rating to a 10/10.
