My Hero Academia

My Hero Academia

Izuku has dreamt of being a hero all his life—a lofty goal for anyone, but especially challenging for a kid with no superpowers. That’s right, in a world where eighty percent of the population has some kind of super-powered “quirk,” Izuku was unlucky enough to be born completely normal. But that’s not going to stop him from enrolling in one of the world’s most prestigious hero academies. Now, the only thing standing between him and his first class is the academy’s formidable entrance exam—nothing a little private tutoring from the world’s mightiest hero can’t solve.

Kaneki11Andi Kaneki11Andi says...

Tokyo Ghoul is about a boy named Ken Kaneki that unexpectantly becomes a ghoul after a near-death experience. But Kaneki never wanted to become a ghoul and has to either learn how to fit in with the human life he has always known or walk the path of a ghoul, though both paths are dangerous and could get him killed. My Hero Academia is about a young boy named Izuku Midori who is of the 20% of humans that are "quirkless" (don't have powers), but he has desperately wanted to become a superhero for his whole life. Then one day his dream comes true but he has to work and learn to control his new powers or his childhood dream will go down the drain. The main difference between the two anime is the fact that Kaneki never wanted to become a ghoul, but Izuku has always wanted to be a superhero. Both anime, however, revolve around one male that is trying to find a way to manage his new life.

Both of these animes focus on hardships through power, the standalone plot may be different but its a lot of the same high octane action that comes with the other, they follow simular plot points and the twists of them can either be unique or pretty simular to the other

Ghouls and Demons fighting against humanity. Some of them are able to affect people and become demi-humans. Or so called - half human half demon/ghoul.  Main character goes through traumatic incidents which changes his life. Both MC's are naive, into crying and having their perfect world which is soon broken and changed by the reality. Some good fights, action, soundtracks and animation.

looooove demon slayer, im waitng four another season, really hopes it comes, higly recomend watching

GabiiTachibana GabiiTachibana says...

Both anime have main characters (Nezuko in Demon Slayer, Kaneki in Tokyo Ghoul) that are originally human but are turned into monsters (Nezuko becomes a demon, Kaneki becomes a ghoul) against their will. They have to struggle to coexist within the human world, and both shows humanize and make us pity the man-eating "monsters."

matrixen matrixen says...

Demon Slayer and Tokyo Ghoul both focus on human-eating "monsters" (ghouls / demons) and like the person below me said, humanize them, causing us to feel sorry for these so called monsters. Whenever a scene of a demon feeding on a human came up in Demon Slayer, I was *heavily* reminded of Tokyo Ghoul--the similarities are indisputable.

Additionally, in both animes there are those with the power to turn humans into "monsters", from those in Tokyo Ghoul suffering that crazy doctor's experiments which turned them into ghouls, to those in Demon Slayer suffering human-to-demon changes at the hands of Kibutsuji.

Inuyashiki: Last Hero

Both main characters had an incident that caused their lives to change big time. Anime has a dark atmosphere, action, gore, killing, fights etc.

Rascal Rascal says...

Ultimately, Tokyo Ghoul is a horror, and Inuyashiki has a few horror elements such as gore, so they aren't the same exact genre- but they are both sci-fi, and both have a lot of violence. You may prefer one over the other, but they're similar enough to reccomend.

An accident results in the mc gaining powers that seriously impact their lives in a rather negative way.

Both are bloody animes about a pretty cute beta male main character who is accompanied by a much cooler and also cute alpha female. While the concepts are completely different a lot of the characters can be matched up as some of them seem similar to each other. Tokyo Ghoul and Mirai Nikki (Future Diary) both are animes that can be taken at face value and still be good but also have a lot of hidden meanings that if uncovered make watching so much more intriging.

rrampage rrampage says...

I recommend these because they have similar amounts of action, Tokyo ghoul follows the story of Ken KANEKI and his childhood and how he is progresses as a "Teen College Student Ghoul" As for Mirai Nikki (Future Diaries) it is kind of like a all out Battle Royale like "The Hunger Games" but each individual who is chosen can tell the future through 10 Minute intervals on their phones but it shares a similar amount of action and drama in the anime as Tokyo Ghoul does along with the main protagonist suffering a very horrible tragedy which causes them to become very "badass".

In both series, Tokyo finds itself living with two species, humans and human hybrids. The hybrids are gifted with physical abilities and are seen as dangerous by much of the populace. Both series feature a certain amount of gore and fighting, as well.

The shows are very similar in that they both have a naive young teenager whose world is flipped on its head by some violent/traumatic incident. This is a good quick watch that'll have you on the edge of your seat the whole ride.

Both of these shows feature a young man that discovers something horrible and monstrous about themselves and comes to terms with the fact by trying to do something good for the world with it. Both young men have to hide these differences most of the time and may not fully have control over it. Both young men are being hunted, although in different ways. Also, both anime are action/adventure, though the atmospheres of each are different. Tokyo Ghoul has a very dark atmosphere while Blue Exorcist is a lot lighter.

Both series have a degree of darkness to them.

The characters have mutated weapons.

Both have an "orginization" of sorts that connects them with other characters.

Also, the series are fantasy and involve monster-ish creatures.

triatath triatath says...

Both have a dark and psychologically chilling theme. The themes that tokyo ghoul displays are very much similar to the themes that D.Gray-man is trying to show, so I think that this will feel very familiar, nostalgic even to read simply due to the fact that they have such similar themes.

Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress

Only steam locomotives, the Hayajiros, can travel between them.

These too can really be tied together based on the gore and the monsters in both. While Ghouls are a bit different than vampires they are fairly similar and I feel like if you enjoyed Castlevania and wanted something with more blood and action that this anime will be really good for you. Though the bloodiness does take a little longer to find in Tokyo Ghoul than Castlevania.

They both have unique and fascinating tales and I highly recommend checking out either or both titles.

Rascal Rascal says...

They're edgy and full of gore. They both have a lot of good action sequences, and a lot of boring sequences where nothing happens. A lot doesn't make sense in both of them or isn't explained very well.
