Thundercats

A betrayal. A reluctant leader. A journey like no other. Evil Mumm-Ra's attack on the city of Thundera destroys the cat civilization, leaving only a band of survivors - Tygra, Panthro, Snarf, Cheetara, Wily Kit and Wily Kat - and young prince Lion-O, the surviving ruler of his people. As the threats of Mumm-Ra ring in their ears, these determined cats know what they must do: find the Book of Omens, which holds the key to their future. Using his powerful Sword of Omens to achieve "sight beyond sight," Lion-O guides his friends across the lands, facing vicious foes and making new allies.

This show may not be perfect, but it's definitely an interesting remake. It completely re-invents the story and although all characters of the original series are present, their roles are completely changed. Among the changes, you'll see right from the start are that Lion-O & Tygra are now brothers, Cheetara is the same age as both of them and is now the love interest of both brothers, Snarf can't talk and is more of a pet now which is a plus and Jaga is still alive! Regarding the story, if you ever watched the original series then you know that it was mainly episodic and any arcs it had were composed just of a few episodes. This is no longer the case, as for this show, there is a plot right from the start. You don't have to watch the original series to understand this story, by the way, it's all completely new, and in fact, it may be better you forgot what you know from the original series. Unfortunately, the story is somewhat average, you have seen this type of fantasy story before in other shows, so it's very predictable although is executed very well, so if you enjoy this type of story you would not mind another iteration. The animation is standard to other anime shows, they have discarded the more muscular, bulky character designs in favor of the more slender look of anime characters. Everyone and everything is still very recognizable and if you never saw the originals you won't care about this. There are very impressive backgrounds of the world and the animation is fluid and colorful. The music is also on par with the show, they have adapted the original theme and the dub is very good quality as well. Overall, you should give this one a try if you like fantasy, adventure and it doesn't matter if you saw the original or not, this show can be enjoyed by everyone.
