I went crazy with it last month when episode 5 was released. The chemistry between Yan Wushi and Shen Qiao are really good! The story and the animation is good too.

Update(release of ep 11): I went crazy again when episode 11 was released. It was so good!!! I can't get over how good is the animation!!!!

Definitely amazing! Great music, characters, and everything!!!! Shen Qiao!!!!! IS AN EXCELLENT PERSON! Nothing less! The story is great so far. Hopefully, Yan Wushi and Shen Qiao are on good terms, but a prayer is a prayer after all. What happens in the animation is already decided by its creators, I and we have yet to find out.......

This is one of the favourite animations, and hopefully, there are more that are similar and great like this in the future!

its slowwooooow and

i dont rlly get the hype around how cute their moments are?? i watched it bc of alot of reviews hyping it but wtf its kinda bland js 'im evil ur gd so leme play u' (mayb its cus i watched this right aft mdzs lol)

came for the cute moments only to watch blahblah sects fightings over some legendary shit and another lmythcial idk

lots of filler plots happened when i js wanted to see ml and mc talk but no, their interactions basically the opposites attract kind with ultra magnetic attraction apparntly cus i cant rmb anyt interesting tht wld make them attracted to one another honestl

it seemed really nice, considerate scholary mc and some emo ml who wans some fun which might seem interesting but its rlly not??  ep3 alr getting bored of the plot, i cant rly feel invested in this to binge it so im stalling it ig

not bad but honestl slow plots without excitements are hard to binge

First of all, I would like to start by saying that I am a hardcore fujoshi i.e. a yaoi/Boy's Love(BL) lover. I started watching this donghua because I saw that it was based on a bl novel. I knew NOTHING about the story prior to starting this donghua since I hadn't read the novel.
After watching the first episode, three things were clear to me: 1) the art was great, 2) the OP and ED were really catchy and melodious, 3) the story was interesting. By the first 5 episodes, I was in love with Shen Qiao and Yan Wushi's characters and the relationship dynamics between them, which is kind of like the main attraction point of the series because of their polar opposite personalities and morals. But don't get me wrong it's the main attraction point, NOT the ONLY attraction point. The plot in itself is an attraction point as well. There is quite a bit of foreshadowing which makes it even more interesting to watch. And there is NOT a single episode in this 16 episode season that is boring to watch or that you can skip. I hope the next season airs soon.
For my fellow fujoshis/fudanshis, there are a lot of fangirling/boying moments ;) And of course, Yan Wushi's cleavage is shown throughout the series(Yummy tiddies). But it's still shounen-ai, you know, Chinese censorship(*eye roll*).
One last thing that I would like to say is that I really loved the expressions of the characters. There was attention to detail.
So, even if you are a yaoi/bl lover or not, doesn't matter. All can watch and enjoy this donghua because of its rich plot and great art/animation.
Hope my review helps!

Clicked on it out of curiosity, and now I'm stuck way too deep in this hell 😂 I've been listening to the audio drama and reading the novel ever since I started watching this show. In fact I even decided to upgrade my account to VIP so that I can watch episodes in advance!

I really recommend it - its pacing has been superb so far. I think that's one of its key strengths since I feel that a few other Chinese animation series I've watched have not fared well in that aspect. The 3D models are also well-sculpted and they all look so beautiful 😂 especially Shen Qiao, and the other female characters. I love the interaction between Yan Wushi and Shen Qiao as well; they have been very fun to watch.

The fights scenes are just glorious and well choreographed. Really keeps me on my toes and makes me look forward to the next battle. And the songs??? I just love the opening and ending songs. Even the background sound tracks are awesome.

The story might be challenging to grasp since the show jumps into the political conflicts quite suddenly in Episode 7. It would be easier to follow if you have read the novel, which integrates actual Chinese history into the plot, but it seems that the place names have been changed in the donghua. Some plots points have also been altered, presumably to accommodate either the budget or the length of the animation.

Overall, this is a show I enjoy very much. I don't really have any complaints about it when I evaluate it as a work on its own and not an adaptation. I really recommend it to anyone who is willing to give Chinese animation and danmei a try.
