Both are about boys who meet merman! Lots of laughs to be had and a little romance too. Check them out.

If you enjoy the story of bathtub merman Wakasa in Orenchi no Furo Jijou, and would love to explore a more extensive friendship and relationship between him and Tatsumi, then you need to watch Kono Danshi, Ningyo Hiroimashita.

Kono Danshi explores a deepening friendship between merman Isaki and the human boy he goes to live with, Shima Kawauchi. It is a more serious take on the merman/human interaction than Orenchi and delves into issues of abandonment and loneliness. If you've been wanting to dive a little deeper into the human/merman interchange between Wakasa and Tatsumi , or have been curious about where such a relationship could go emotionally, then you would enjoy checking out Kono Danshi.

Both of these shippable anime are about a teenage boy living by himself who becomes friends with a stray merman he picks up. Orenchi no Furo Jijou is more comedic, while Kono Danshi, Ningyo Hiroimashita is more emotional and romantic, but I think fans of either would enjoy the other.

A lonely high school boy meets a handsome merman and brings his home. Orenchi is much more a comedy with some shounen-ai flavors where as Kono Danshi is a dramatic actual shounen ai. Both are fun, short series to watch if you need some cheering up as they both have happy endings.

Both anime are about a boy who lives with a merman.  Both are cute and have plenty of funny moments (though Kono Danshi, Ningyo Hiroimashita also has plenty of serious/dramatic moments, while Orenchi no Furo Jijou is pretty much pure comedy).  Kono Danshi, Ningyo Hiroimashita is a BL anime, while Orenchi no Furo Jijou is technically not (though it does have plenty of BL-ish undertones).  Still, if you like one, the other will probably appeal to you.

ChalamiuS ChalamiuS says...

Both of these series are about a boy who somehow ends up living with a merman.

Both of the series also give off a boys' love vibe. Orenchi no Furo is mostly focused on comedy rather than romance, while Kono Danshi is downright a boy's love show. If you liked one of these you'll surely enjoy the other (either for comedic value or because of the romance).

Nicknames Nicknames says...

Both shows feature a guy who ends up living with a merman. Kono Danshi, Ningyo Hiroimashita goes deep into shounen-ai territory and has it's serious moments while Orenchi is just a comedy show with some manservice. Anyway, if you liked one you'll definitely like the other too.

Both of these anime are about men who find mermen and decide to bring them home. Both are mixes of comedy and drama with one being openly shounen-Ai and the other hinting. If you like one, check out the other as both are also quite short.

Both anime is about a boy who accidentally meets a merman by the shore and brings him home. From there those two starts to form a friendly bond and spend their everyday life together.

The anime have a very similar premise; a highschool boy meets a merman who ends up living in his house. They form a very close bond, that implies romantic interest. Also, in both anime, the merman can be rather silly.

Both series are about boys who meet mermen and how they start living in their house. Both are cute stories with adorable characters.

Max4444 Max4444 says...

Both anime are about a sexy black haired boy with a sexy blonde merman living in his house. When I first saw Orenchi no Furo Jijou I thought these were the same anime.

Orenchi no Furo Jijoi is more comedy and This Boy Caught a Merman is more drama, but they are both very fun to watch and they both have gay vibes.

both are short, fruity, and about a boy who keeps a merman in his house. similar character design too.

This is a bit of a gut-feeling rec, but Shima's backstory (Kono Danshi) reminded me of the Child Broiler scenes from Penguindrum, and Kanba's story to a lesser extent. Both stories are about normal teenagers who, after a great personal tragedy, find themselves enmeshed in a supernatural drama.

thses two defenetly have simular vibes with the art syle and the good but kinda depressing story (-_-)/

In both of these watery anime, a mopey/awkward high school boy suddenly finds himself living with a supernatural guy (either merman or alien) who's determined to cheer him up. Kono Danshi is BL (though it's very sweet and not at all explicit), and Tsuritama is not (though it is about strong male friendships, and has a really similar character dynamic).

Both of these anime are animated with bright colors and patterns (though Kono Danshi was made entirely by one person, so it's very low-budget).
