Bleach09 Bleach09 says...

these two anime are similar in the way that they both follow an omnibus format or something similar.  As both protagonists chase after different girls and then moving on or returning back to a specific point in time, the audience uncovers more about the protagonists.

Galadriel Galadriel says...

What makes TWGOK and Amagami SS similar is the plot, both of them feature an omnibus format centering on a male lead that has difficulties in expressing their feelings towards their love interest.

eaper eaper says...

Each of these series focus around a single guy getting close to girl after girl only to have a somewhat similar event happen. If you like one guy interacting with many different types of girls, these fit well.

gretzky99 gretzky99 says...

Although the conceptions of these two are quite differerent both of the main characters seduce several girls. If you enjoyed one of these shows I am sure you would enjoy the other because they have quite a few funny moments. On the other hand Amagami SS contains much more romance.

Thrawn Thrawn says...

Of note is how they're both presented: separate arcs for each girl. Amagami SS's arcs are stand-alone (Separate timelines, if you will) while Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai's are one after another in a single timeline.

With that out of the way, Amagami SS focuses more on romance than comedy while Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai leans more on comedy without sacrificing too much of the romance aspect. Both look great and sound great, and while Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai has a bit of a fantasy vibe to it and quite a bit on dating sims, they are nonetheless similiar to the point where a fan of one will find quite a bit of enjoyment in the other.

KittyEmperor KittyEmperor says...

Both series feature small arcs that deal with the male lead and the female lead for that arc and the romance that develops between the two.  Though Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai ties all the smaller arcs together into one larger overall plot and in Amagami SS the story for the most part resets after each arc.  Both feature some rather well developed love stories that will leave the viewer happy after each arc.

Symmetrical Symmetrical says...

Both series have the male lead and multiple girls. One girl per arc. If you like variety of the male lead and heroines, this is for you! :D

theazariah theazariah says...

Here's the premise: guy gets the girl.

That's how both of these anime go - Just that for Amagami SS it takes 4 episodes and has a lot of emotional meaning, and in TWOGK it takes from half an episode to 2 episodes, but it has little emotional significance.

In the same sense, Amagami resets to day 1 every 4 episodes, and Katsuragi's girls forget about him once the demon is gone - so it has a similar feeling if you watch all the episodes back to back.

The jokes are pretty similar too - "you're a perv! no I'm not" so that's always a fun time.

Seitaro14 Seitaro14 says...

the main character in both series initial reports different girls will not stop as usual in anime with a single girl in amagami ss and as if the protagonist was reset whenever an arc ends, while Kami names zo Shiru Sekai the story continues it's the girls forget everything

CrimsonSunShine CrimsonSunShine says...

Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai and Amagami SS are similar, in that each love interest is only relevant to the story for a few episodes. Both protagonists form relationships with a number of girls. The two series are harems with an omnibus format.

reese4brown reese4brown says...

Both animes have the protoganist win the hearts of several girls. Amagami SS does it in arcs and tends to lean more on romance while Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai does it in a steady timeline and is more comedy based, If you liked one, you will definetely enjoy the other,

kenikki kenikki says...

While TWGOK is much better than Amagami SS, there's no denying how similar their story structures are; Meeting a girl, interact, winning her over, and then repeat the same thing with another girl.

All the girls are some sort of stereotypes as well. But in TWGOK, it's intentional for the story.

jShota jShota says...

Both have one guy who gets in a relationship with many girls one after another. Amagami's relationships are way more serious bc "The World Only God Knows" has a lot more comedy and plot that isn't just foccussed on relationship building. Both are very similar and good romance animes.

langenegger123 langenegger123 says...

Both about "conquering Heroines"

Give off a somewhat similar feeling...

Differences:

Amagami SS:

  • multiple independent storylines with the same characters reappearing
  • maincharacter acts on own volition
  • has a very DatingSim-like feel to it (don't ask me to explain what I mean)

Kami nomi zo shiru sekai:

  • one story with the plot moving on in arcs for every heroine (MC remembers)
  • MC forced to advance plot (not interestedon his own)
  • characters mostly very according to stereotypes(part of plot)

chouchou11 chouchou11 says...

All girls get their happy ending. Smaller arcs that are between 1 - 3 episodes. There's kisses, hugs and development in the characters. Stories are separate although in this Amagami SS male MC doesn't know about other arcs, in The World God Only Knows the male MC is fully aware of all the arcs but the girls forget. The characters develop as a result of their relationships.

Vic969 Vic969 says...

Both shows take an approach at creating a "Dating Sim" anime. The difference is that in Kami Nomi, MC hits on normal girls, while in Date a Live the girls are magicalbeings from outer space. The two shows are really great and if you like one, then you'll like the other!

Thrawn Thrawn says...

Both shows use the concept of dating games/sims and bring them to life by having the main character use the nuances and features of it to woo/capture troublesome dames. Mix in school life/comedy and a bit o' drama into these romance shows and you got a bucket of fun!

Laughinator Laughinator says...

Both animes are about the main male character, who is at first unwilling, but has to make multiple girls fall in love with him, or at least get a kiss from them

MrROo17 MrROo17 says...

I think these two are almost the same because the main character mision is to make girls fall for him to save them, the only difference is that date a live focus more in action and kami nomi zo shiru sekai focus on comedy

NatsuIgneel95 NatsuIgneel95 says...

Both series is like game/dating sims...cuz for TWGOK,to capture tha 'lost soul',Keima must make the girl that have 'lost soul' in her to fall in love to him and for Date Alive it also like that but it nnot have 'lost soul',it have Spirit

TooOldForAnime TooOldForAnime says...

Both involve the main character having to make someone fall in love in order to fix them. In Date a live the main character has to seal the powers of the spirit by making them fall in love which is similar to how Keima from TWGOK closes the gap in the hearts of Girls.

zetazach zetazach says...

Both animes are about a male protagonist who saves the world by dating young women. While Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai is about a boy who helps a demon capture other demons that are inside of women, Date A Live is about a man who saves the world by dating entities called Spirits.

Madoka Madoka says...

These shows are both very alike in the dating sim type style, whilst in Date A Live the MC has to date the girl and raise her affection for him to reduce her powers in Kami nomi he must tackle girls and "conquer" them to... well protect his life. The element is pretty similar, though Kami Nomi is a little more focused on the "how" to get the girls and such i think they are quite alike and if you enjoy one you might like the other.

rhibob rhibob says...

These two anime are very similar. They both involve a guy having to conquer supernatural girls and kiss them to seal their powers or make a lost soul appear. They are also both comedies and have many dating sim references. If you like one you will like the other.

RikkuNyan RikkuNyan says...

It's basically the same only that Date a Live has more action and sci fi to it and the characters have more depth. With two seasons and the upcoming film, this Anime satisfies in any way if you Like Kami Nomi

Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts

Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts

Fumizuki Academy is divided into classes ranked based purely on ability; Class A has laptops, reclining seats and ultimate comfort whereas Class F has to settle for a rundown classroom with rotten cushions and rickety coffee tables. Akihisa Yoshii has recently taken the placement exam and finds himself relegated to the lowly Class F along with many of his friends, and they’re far from impressed with their draughty facilities. Luckily, not all is lost as at Fumizuki, classes can declare war on each other to swap rooms by fighting with summoned characters whose strength is based on the users' test scores. As they dream of escaping their decrepit circumstances, the ‘idiotic’ students of Class F will try whatever they can to reach the dizzy heights of Class A’s luxury, even if it means taking on the entire school in an all-out summoning war!

I'm sure that if you liked one of these, you'll definitely enjoy the other. The main reason is because the characters are very well developed. Not only that but also the relations and the way they interact are extremely well balanced.

Each of these series center around gamers and deal with a lot of stereotypes and tropes. Beyond that, the game references and much of the humor bring them together.

KittyEmperor KittyEmperor says...

Both series center around people who would normally be considered something of social outcasts.  Though in Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai the outcast is a guy and in Imouto it's the girl both share some common traits in that they are passionate about there chosen fields.  Both have a good amount of amusing moments spread throughout the series and are sure to bring a few laughs to whoever is watching them.

Nidrax Nidrax says...

Both titles present to us main characters that are addicted to dating sim video games, and both have romantic affairs associated with the main plot.

Both of these shows revolve around Otaku and how they brave daily life, choosing to either expose unabashedly or hide who they are.

Many questions about morality and life philosophy are asked by both of these series, but ultimatley, the comedy, romance and heartfelt stories are why you should tune in.

No Game No Life

No Game No Life

An urban legend states that those exceptionally gifted at gaming will be sent a special game invitation, and the winners of the challenge will be whisked away to another world. When Sora and Shiro, two hikikomori NEETs who happen to be both siblings and notorious gamers, receive this invitation, they defeat it with ease. And like the legends tell, they're transported to another world where conflicts, peoples' lives and even country borders are decided by competitions and games. Always up for a challenge, the pair quickly take on the obstacles that come their way, whether it be restoring lowly humanity's good name compared with the other races or helping influence who will become the next king.

There's quite a lot in common about both of these shows. Both shows feature protagonists that are gamers and who otherwise shun social interactions in favor of those games. And in both series, fantastical elements force the protagonists to use their gaming skills to accomplish certain tasks. In TWGOK, Keima is an avid dating sim player who must capture the hearts of real girls possessed by rogue spirits to force out those spirits; in NGNL, Sora and Shiro end up in a fantasy world where they must win games of all sorts to help the human race reclaim their territory.

What really makes these two shows similar, though, is how these games are played out. Both Keima and the Sora/Shiro team make elaborate plans to achieve their objectives, and they are shown executing these plans and sometimes changing them up on the fly when unexpected complications come up. The execution of Keima's conquests and Sora and Shiro's games both come out very entertaining as their plans come to fruition.

Both shows also feature nods to various aspects of gaming and have plenty of gaming humor to go with them.

XMrNiceguyX XMrNiceguyX says...

Primarily this recommendation based on the use of knowledge gained from a game to survive in an "alien" world. This plot device is similar in that in both shows, the protagonists are top players in their game(s) and have to deal with the workings of an "alien" or unknown world. In the case of No Game, No Life the focus is mostly on the politics of the world the protaginist stranded in; In the case of Kami Nomi zo Shiru Sekai, the protagonist has to use his knowledge of the Visual Novel / Eroge games to win over the hearts of girls in his high school.

Also, both series are primarily comedies, No Game, No Life has a whole lot of fanservice to its name. Kami Nomi zo Shiru Sekai puts its alternative focus on Romance instead. Keep this difference in mind if you object to either of those.

AlexaSN AlexaSN says...

The two animes though different in many aspects have things in common. First is that in both the MCs are shut-ins that spend all their time playing games, in which they highly excell to a level of experts. The second thing is that they are visited by a supernatural creature/demon/god that makes them to get involved in their world/work in same way. Lastly both animes are light-hearted most of the time and are quite comical to watch

These series both have a lot of parody-style comedy and interesting male protagonists who have a lot of comments to make about reality. Their situations are quite different, though in both cases they have a responsibility they never would have asked for. But it's really about the characters, not the premise, especially when these series get more serious later on.

The story revolves around a guy with "dead eyes" or no motivation, who nonetheless is a great person, who will help those in need although complaining about it the whole time. The heroine(s) is a girl who needs the protagonists help, although she will deny it and try to push him away. In the end its only through hard work and determination that our protagonist can solve their problems. Also I love the snarky comments the guys make. Definite must see.
