Since Yoko grew up in Horai, she can not believe in the Heaven’s Will, yet, she is afraid of repeating the mistake Shoko made for the same suspicion. En-o tells Yoko a story about a man he calls another him. En-o and Atsuyu both had a cowardly father. Atsuyu got rid of his father for the people and En-o let the people die for his father. Atsuyu demands a new emperor status above the king for the people, and En-o faces him to see who deserves the king. En-o survives and Atsuyu lies in his grave. En-o’s story does not give Yoko answers but a plenty of inspiration.

Both of these series involve a Japanese high school girl journeying to a mystic land and taking part in epic struggles there. They are both fairly serious, although Escaflowne features plenty of shoujo romance whereas Junni is more fighting and politics oriented. Escaflowne takes place in a steampunk fantasy world, and Junni in a Chinese-mythology based world. Fans of action and fantasy-adventure, particularly with strong female protagonists, should enjoy both.

There are quite a few anime that involve a girl getting lost in another world, but Escaflowne and Juuni Kokki manage to seamlessly blend different genres into one piece. Escaflowne is a lot more romance/action-based, whereas Juuni Kokki is pretty serious and definitely aimed at a more adult audience.

Both series involve girls being transported to magical worlds in order to fulfill their respective destinies. Both series are fast-paced, have plenty of action and character development. Twelve Kingdoms has more political intrigue whereas Escaflowne has more romance.

They are both stories about becoming a king. The protagonists goes on a journey to become stronger and understand themselves.

These two anime are related as it involves kings from different countries. In Magi there are dungeons involved and all the episodes stick to the protagonist whilst in 12 Kindoms there are characters transforming into horses and at certain episodes the anime veered off to other kingdoms characters.

Otherwise both anime are focused on adventure and fantasy. They are the sort of anime that you should take seriously as they show the struggles of the protagonist and what they do to become more powerful. At first I thought Magi would be a very easy going anime but it is not. Do watch both of these anime as they are awesome!!

Both series feature a very similar fantasy world with lots of great characters. Magi is a bit more lighthearted and less political than Twelve Kingdoms, but they're both great series.

Maoyu: Archenemy & Hero

Maoyu: Archenemy & Hero

After many trials, the Hero has reached his destination: the throne room of the Demon King, where he hopes to end the war between the Demon and Human realms once and for all. What he finds, however, is not at all what he expected: the 'king' of the Demons is a woman, and a bouncy one at that - what's more, rather than fighting, she wishes to engage him in...

In Maou Yuusha a hero and the queen of demons partner together to bring peace to all the land. Maou Yuusha is similar to Twelve Kingdom because it has a lot to do with war tactics and "chosen ones" being at the front lines to lead everyone. They both also have go on a journey to understand his or herself and what they truely want. Youko in Twelve kingdom had to accept being a new queen while the Hero needed to accept partnering with the demon queen and changing his own view points of killing all the demons. Twelve kingdom has a theme of half human- half animal. But, in Yuusha there are demon vs human type of conflicts. They both fight with swords and have religious themes. Lots of themes overlap and I recommend both!
