When i saw this, my first thought was- wait, is it going to be a whole series made of ova/ omake/specials? New episodes actually continue events from previous ones. It is the same anime but made in a different way. All the comedy stuff is there, but dramatic moments and serious fights are not included. Orginal version of this anime is like vodka (or wine maybe, as vodka might be a bit to much XD) and this version is like a non alcoholic beer. Actually it was realy pleasant to watch and i have nothing to complain about in this series. It gave me an occasion to see more of characters that I like and to laught. It was also realy heartwarming and just lovely. If you want to see some daily basic of Tensai Shitara Slime Catta Ken characters and laught while watching how monsters celebrate human holidas, you must see this series. I fully recommend, it was not a waste of time.

This is basically in between shows IMO. Like this slime show isn't needed to be watched to understand the main show, and this is just a slice of life with using the slime peopel.  It isn't bad, but I wish it was advertised as such.

Controversial opinion but, I hate OVAs. Usually they're just a bunch of boring fan service and for some reason it's 90% of the times a beach episode. Now, imagine an entire season out of OVAs, must be awful right? WRONG! I don't know how they did this, but I'm in love with this. Instead of comparing it to OVAs, it's better to view it as a slice of life season. These episodes exist mainly out of things happening within Rimuru's town/city. You get to learn more about characters and the town/city. Instead of making this season completely uncanon, they simply show more detail. I suggest giving this a try if you're bored someday :P
