The Rising of the Shield Hero - Reviews

The reviews on here are literally essays. I'll just say this: if you're into isekai stuff just watch it. 

I really liked the art and am curious as to how the story will further develop. I read the manga before this and am waiting a while for new chapters to come out so watching the anime helps refresh my memory of the story. 

If you're not into this after watching a few episodes just give it up, and don't hope for much character development from the other heroes because they're still morons until the end. The only character that interests me is the current filorial queen, I want more backstory on her because she seems the most mature out of the bunch, probably cuz she's over 100 years old. 

My scoring is high because I like the stoy and the art, and I approve of this anime adaptation because the voices of the characters sound normal and not like a bunch of pipsqueak children which tends to be the case for a bucnh of female characters in anime overall. I really like the art style, a lot.

I was sceptical about this serie before I watched it because of the comments.

A few days ago I thought of watching it and man, am I glad I did!

It's very, very good. The story about a hero sinking lower then thought possible because of backstabbing that makes your blood boil. Then he goes on and keeps getting good adventures and gets stronger which makes me laugh out loud occasionally. Then he's trapped again and sinkes even lower. After a while he gets thus good because of his hard work other 'hero's' can't keep up and I find myself cheering each time he does it. Once I found a guy deserving a much slower death because of his evilness to people.... Ah well.

This serie gets under your skin, make you hate people in it and love others. Then the ending keeps you wanting for more! Oh man.

The animation is good. Just the CGI is annoying, especially the larger monsters. I really hate the look of them, so lifeless. It's the bosses which are the important part of the adventures. As well as 'the Cathedral' (ep19/20 I think?) that just looks so fake. Then again a lot of the series uses 'real' handrawn animation we know and love in the scenery, main and secondary characters and battles and the spells therein.

The best part is the music. More then once I found myself enjoying the music in battle, riding the fields or just when he buys stuff. Very atmospheric and pleasant to listen to.

The one real downside in my humble opinion is the (few?) moments of harem-like play by the girls in his party and the few 'booby-shots'. I really don't like objectification of women in great anime. That said, it just happens a very few times and not very exaggerated as well I think.

The one thing that could've made it even better is that baddass sound effect that the Fate series use. Those are just wicked sick. :)

Love this anime, it really dives into character development and focuses the idea of how rumors can ruin someones reputation. There couldl be a lack of fight sence but the ones included are good enough to look past that, aswell as the concept of the heros weapons and how they can absorb materials is bearly explaned which could be introduced in later seasons but overall for a first season it is fantasic to watch.

At first I was really unsure if I should watch this, mostly because of two reasons: 1. It´s another isekai anime, 2. The bad ratings in the comment section, saying how it includes loli, harem and shit like that. But seeing how its rated a 4.5/5, I thought "it cant be that bad, right?" and Im glad I gave it a chance. The rising of the shield hero has a great story and its not "yet another boring isekai anime". In the first episode you get to see how the protagonist is teleported into the other world and get to know why and for what reason. He has a character changing right after episode 1 due to some happenings and though appearing cold and mean on the outside, he keeps being the kind soul that he is. The 2. protagonist is the girl that accompanies him, also a lovely and enjoyable character.

Honestly, this anime reminded me alot of black bullet, another anime I liked very much, cause of the protagonist and his female companion. While its true that there´s a loli included in the group, it does nothing bad to the storyline. There arent any perverted jokes made, harem like stuff or fanservice. So I seriously can´t agree with the previous commentors. And if you want to avoid isekai animes like I did, I can also recommend it, cause it being an isekai anime does nothing bad to the story line as already said. I definitely recommend it.
