I made the mistake of looking forward to this show... and that about sums up the review in one line, I guess. Ok, a little more detailed review: The show started off strong but the more I watched the less sense everything made. The dialogue is from the school of 'if you can tell, don't show' type of storytelling and it is really long-winded, overly dramatic and doesn't ever seem to go anywhere sensible. Most of the characters are one-dimensional and despite numerous opportunities to do so, never develop in a believable way. Their motivations don't seem relatable either. The story contradicts itself many times during the runtime and just leaves the viewer frustrated. There is no buildup or meaningful progression, everything just happens abruptly giving no catharsis to the viewer even if the thing happening is good. There is one thing i.e. the main relationship that highlights the development of one of the main characters but does the opposite for the other which was kind of jarring. A few positives now because the show isn't bad, just kind of bland and uninteresting. The technical aspects like animation and sound are pretty good. The voice actors did a good job, it's just that the dialogue isn't favourable. There are a few likeable characters, one of which even undergoes significant development which actually makes sense even though the presentation isn't the best. These characters have the most reasonable lines in the entire show, unsurprisingly and they have pretty good dynamics with the characters they interact with. There are glimpses of a much better show sprinkled throughout and I don't know if it is a bad adaptation or what but as it stands this was mostly wasted potential. So, in the end, I'm kind of disappointed and despite the show garnering bonus points from me, I can't give it a grade above 'average.' I'm not sure if I'd recommend this but seeing as how there's so few shows that actually have legit yuri couples in them, I just might do so... Hell, give it a shot, you might enjoy it more than I did. And even though it doesn't do a great job of advertising the source material, I'm inclined to read the manga in the future as well.
