Chivalry of a Failed Knight

Chivalry of a Failed Knight

Ikki Kurogane may have come from a long line of Blazers, people with the ability to create weapons or devices manifested from their souls, but as far as the Hagun Academy is concerned, he's been a major disappointment in the magical powers department. He is so disappointing, in fact, that he's earned the unfortunate nickname of the "Worst One". However, things change for Ikki in the most surprising way when Princess Stella Vermillion, the most promising Rank-A Blazer to come along in many years, decides to transfer to Hagun. When she challenges him to a duel where the loser must obey the winner for the rest of their life, the last thing anyone expects is that the Worst One might prove to be a match for the Crimson Princess… and the unforeseen consequences will push the boundaries of society itself!

both have magic high schools, awesome action scene, a sister thats in love with the brother, brother with really low magic levels but still is super badass....  i could go on and on, but they're really similar is the thing

The Irregular at Magic High School was a little weird for me, because it pretty much only had the incest thing and..... the incest was a little weird but I know some people dont really care about that.  Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry is more romance oriented around the two main characters and the sister is just kinda overprotective.

Best Anime Of 2014..............This anime is super awesome....................

The irregular at magic high school is set in a world where magic exists but instead of using chants and spells, magic users cast spells with their Casting Assistant Device (CAD). The CAD is infused with the user’s Psions (a substance-less thought particle) that activates the device and constructs the magic ritual.

They are the same as on of the reviewers said. But I liked irregular at MHS more, I felt like it was more intriguing. But Chivalry is as close as it gets

20200 20200 says...

These two have almost identical plots, characters, and setting. Although that isn't to say that if you've seen one, you've seen the other. Chivalry has a main character role that Irregular lacks, and this noticibly changes the plot and dynamics.

Oblithian Oblithian says...

Same, same-ish.Both are school magic anime, both have magic competitions, both MCs are inferior in terms of magic power but have special ('irregular') techniques that make them the best. IMHS has cooler battles, but CFK has a more well constructed anime (humour, relationships, etc.).CFK is nice because it is one of the few school anime to actually develop a romantic relationship beyond holding hands. So you don't have an entire season of 'ooh, are they going to end up together?' with no reward.  It also has one or two relatable moments that are either nice or humorous. Both have that 'sister love' thing going on, which is annoying. However, where as IMHS has no real relationships developed and the 'sister love' is more alluded to and dragged out throughout, CFK the MC has no part in it and it is only discussed (with the exception of his sister's introductory episode).

The story gives a similar vibe, as they are similar genres, both are magic/romance animes. The mcs are similar age as well as the romance happening.

OffTheMark23 OffTheMark23 says...

The main character in both of these animes are grossly underestimated. they are a low rank in their school because they lack the requirements in that area, but they make up for it with unbelievable power in another, but its kept hidden

Mistfall Mistfall says...

Both are about main hero on magic high school, being considered low ranking but having awsome power. Both have harem with main hero's sister being in love.Main difference is that CoaFK is more about the hero's struggle with weak worldbuilding, TIaMHS is with better and cohesive worldbuilding but with main hero clearly OP and no true character flaws.

tiegan tiegan says...

These two animes follow a similar storyline of the really powerful guy who is overlooked by his peers but throughout the series his strengths start to show and he gains recognition among his classmates for what he can really do,

Both shows take place in a school setting and involve otherworldly magic or powers and invest the viewers in the success or failures of the characters.

I recommend watching both of these shows if you like magic or battle type animes :D

both of the MCs are at a school where they are placed in a rank that's not true to thier abilities

both of them suffer from injustice from thier families

they somewhat have a harem vibe going on around the MC

ShiniBaka ShiniBaka says...

I'm not really good at explaining stuff like this, but basically, both of the mc are op so its really similar and both of them are trying to hide their power and not show off so yeahhh.

Because They Both Are Pretty Similar in A Lot of Ways Espically When it Comes To The MC Being Looked Down On But Turns Out To Be The Strongest Person in The Academy

ChiefEugene ChiefEugene says...

Similarities:

- Male Main characters are enrolled in Magic High Schools. The metrics on which their "ratings" are based on (to enter the school) grossly miscalculate their true skill.

- There are Bro-cons in both shows, though Irregular At Magic High School's "Bro-con" definitely goes a bit farther than Chivalry of a Failed Knight.

- Both shows have a posse of around 3 side or main characters tagging along primarily.

- Competitions based on magic are cornerstone in both shows.

Differences:

- Fundamentally one show is Sci-Fi based, and the other is more sword-magic based.

- Not to spoil anything, but the MC in The Irregular at Magic High School has some mysterious backgrounds to him.

- Chivalry of a Failed Knight has a butchered ending, so watch at your own risk. I felt like I watched 10 episodes just to have the story flip you off in the last 2 episodes.

The Fruit of Grisaia

The Fruit of Grisaia

Mihama Academy is a prison-like school built to preserve fruit that has fallen too far from its tree. It is home to five female students who each have their reasons for enrolling in the academy and live their life idly within the walls of Mihama. One day, Kazami Yuuji the institute’s first male student arrives and throws the orderly rhythm of Mihama off balance. Is Yuuji what the girls need to hold of their lives once more, or will the weight of their pasts prove too steep a wall to overcome? Or is his past even heavier than any of the others?

To tell you the truth i have a hard time starting new anime so the first few times i saw this anime recommended to me i just cast it aside, but after after watching the fruit of grisaia (and loving it of course) i found myself wanting more.I will say the story and anime are fairly different from each other, so far i have seen 13 of the fruit of grisaia and 21 of magic highschool and the fruit of grisaia's story is a lot darker so if you have watched the fruit of grisaia, magic high will be a step down and if youve seen magic high grisaia will be a step up (in the blood darker story and sad twisted kind of stuff) But if youve seen one definitely give the other a shot!

langenegger123 langenegger123 says...

Both share the concept of a male lead with a somewhat difficult past with each of these characters being strongly influenced by their sisters.

Mahouka has the additional magic aspect while Grisaia maintains a focus on the story behind the MCs/Heroines.

PurplePeopleEater PurplePeopleEater says...

Both feature a male character who seems calm and strong and has a secret. The secret in  both cases is their involvement in some group that fights and kills. Both characters attend a special school and pretend to be normal high school students while hiding their true self.

If you like one you'll like the other. They have a similar main character, but they are set in different worlds. The main difference is that there is magic in 'the irregular at magic high school'. You'll probably enjoy both!

Icyking Icyking says...

They both have a very mysterious Male MC with a past he wishes to forget at all costs. Other than The Fruit of Grisaia being slightly(And by slightly I mean very) ecchi and for the more mature of audience it is a great Anime. On the other hand The Irregular at Magic High School again has a very mysterious Male MC but we never really learn of his past, but we do learn that he has a very potent magical energy even though he tries to hide it from his classmates. And also his little sister is very much in love with him

TRex91 TRex91 says...

The main characters are similar. They both are very serious and bad ass. The story is completely different but again, the main chsracters are similar and so is the vibe. The main difference that sticks out to me is that there is some girls and somewhat romance (but not really, dont let that turn you off if you are like me and loke hard core action type stuff)

Classroom of the Elite

Classroom of the Elite

Ayanokouji Kiyotaka has just enrolled at Tokyo Koudo Ikusei Senior High School, where it's said that 100% of students go on to college or find employment. But he ends up in Class 1-D, which is full of all the school's problem children. What's more, every month, the school awards students points with a cash value of 100,000 yen, and the classes employ a laissez-faire policy in which talking, sleeping, and even sabotage are permitted during class. But among all the students who lead such self-indulgent lives, there is one who disagrees with it all and chooses to remain solitary, avoiding contact with others: the beautiful Horikita Suzune. She has figured out that, even though the school gives students huge amounts of money, it also offers many means of "assistance for students with no money." One month later, Ayanokouji, Horikita, and the students of Class D learn the truth of the system in place within their school...

I get the same feeling from The Asterisk War as I did on Irregular at Magic High School. Also the colors and animation are close. The Asterisk War takes place when a new student seems to be weak but is actually really strong like in The Irregular at Magic High School when the main character is a weed but is the strongest in the school.

Sinlessclown Sinlessclown says...

BASICALLY, THE ASTERISK WAR IS THE SAME AS RAKUDAI KISHI NO CAVALRY.  RAKUDAI KISHI NO CAVALRY IS THE SAME AS IRREGULAR. HIGH SCHOOL SETTING, SOME SISTER PROBLEMS (KIND OF), MAGIC, FUTURISTIC AND PROTAGONIST IS OVERPOWERED BUT NOT RECOGONISED AT FIRST

So, here we have two shows based arouind the idea of an op main character in a magic school that fights other schools in competitions and things. Characters are very similar and to be honest their storyline can be seen as very similar (except Asterisk was much shorter). Anyway I think if you liked one you should like the other xx

Both of these shows focus on magic weilding highschool students at a school that teaches magic. They have school sanctioned battles and full on tournaments with other magic schools. HUman experimentation also makes an appearance in both of the shows.

Both these anime are perfect for anyone who is sick of watching Shounen animes where the MC is stupid, unskilled, weak and always forgets any lesson they have lernt less than two episodes later.

The protagonists of both programs have done all their leveling up before the show and have valid reasins for not using all his skills and power and hiding them.

Both center around a male character who must come into a new environment hiding their immense skill, abilities, or power. Both No Game No Life and The Irregular at Magic High School are similarly fun to watch because the main character(s) in each are extremely intelligent and come up with fascinating ways to solve problems.  NGNL probably has more tension because the 'battle' scenarios are more realistic and it's easier to understand how someone can easily lose in a game compared to magic... not that magic isn't part of both, but that's one of the main differences I can think of other than the fact that Magic High School is basically just a version of this world with magic compared to an entirely different world.

They both do a better job than most at handling relationship-type interactions, though the Irregular at Magic High School probably handles this the most uniquely out of any anime I've seen, as the main character acts more like a normal human and doesn't yell and freak out whenever someone even comes close to hinting the possibility of romantic things.  Granted, NGNL doesn't really do that either, but the main character in that is pretty hilarious about it compared to the more serious nature in Magic High.

If you like either one of these, I can't imagine why you wouldn't like the other, as to me they both have very strong and interesting stories/characters.

-Themes of magic, fantasy, futuristic, school setting.

The Misfit of Demon King Academy

The Misfit of Demon King Academy

Anos Voldigord was a tyrannical Demon King that eradicated humans, spirits, and even the gods, but became bored of eternal warfare and reincarnated with dreams of a peaceful world. However, what awaited him in reincarnation after 2000 years were descendants who became too weak after being accustomed to peace, and all sorts of magic that deteriorated to the extreme. Anos enters Demon King Academy that gathers and educates those who are viewed as the reincarnation of the Demon King, but the academy could not see through his true powers and ends up branding him as a misfit!

The two have a similar story. A prodigy enters a magical school that is segregated by class/ability, as a misfit/irregular, gathers a "harem" of fans, & proves how powerful they are while fighting against corruption. I recommend both.

-Nobody will aknowledge their true power at first

-Both are Badass

-Both participate in school live and different school activities

-The Misfit doesn't have a sister but he is in a realtionship with 2 sisters!

-It's about magic

The two are very similar. Both deal with student discrimination based on one thing rather than the students' overall ability.

Both stories have a very similar feel to them. The main character is a male with overwhelming powers that they use for the good of others. Most of the time people are in awe of their abilities and there holds some mystery to them.

Seraph of the End

Do you like crisp highly detailed uniforms, large casts, mostly teen-aged protagonists, super powered action and either teal or neon green?

Do I have a couple titles for you!

If you just got done with the high school action of magical powers and school tournaments of Irregular Magic H.S. and loved the look and feel of it, try out Seraph. Likewise, have you just finished with the first season of Seraph, waiting for the next season to answer some questions check out Irregular.

Both Animes centres mainly around young people/children.

Not only that but there is a main colour theme with both Anime, being blueish green/green.

You also have the OP powers/strengh and magic with certain induviduals aka the main chars of each Anime.

You have a group of friends that have to work together to help with things.

The opening and endings songs are AMAZING with both Anime too :)
