A perfect comfort show with several likable characters though the main couple is obviously the focus. You have two introverted lead protagonists who find themselves wanting to know more about each other and are just adorable watching bond. The animation is also pretty beautiful, especially whenever it is showing off Himuro's powers.

The only downside was that whenever Fuyutsuki did something that was "cute" in Himuro's eyes, he absentmindedly starts a snowstorm inside. The first episode had this happen about three or four times. I was initially worried that the joke would immediately get cold due to the constant setups, but it does slack off with the rest of the episodes. Would have also liked to know more about the snow woman spirit and the other mythical figures that the main cast was descended from because that is potentially interesting, but I am content with what we have here.

The Ice Guy & His Cool Female Colleague is a cute workplace romance like Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku except more youkai, less otaku, and the pairs aren't in established relationships. Also, there is way less comedy as it's primarily fluff. On paper, it seemed like something I would've really enjoyed so I was disappointed by its, in my opinion, mediocrity

Story

The story is basically typical slice of life following the daily lives of human and youkai office workers. None of them are in official relationships (yet), but they all practically have mutual crushes from each other early on. The romance is slow as its focused on cute mutual pining moments.

This is a testament to the fact that the pacing is pretty wonky with the Halloween episode Christmas episodes being back-to-back. I was disappointed by the lack of actual relationship progression over the course of an entire year in-story.

There are some side couples, but they don't make much more progress than the mains.

Animation & Sound

The animation for this series is fairly smooth but kinda bland. The disconnect is between that I like the character designs (particularly Fuyutski's). But in the actual anime the animation just started getting boring to look at. The eyes look pretty except the way they move around is a tad overdone so it starts looking sorta creepy in close-up shots of their faces.

The music was alright but I didn't find any songs or BGM memorable. Not bad; just didn't hold my attention.

Characters

The characters themselves are cute and likable, albeit kinda boring. There's not much to say about them because they're all pretty one or two dimensional. They're whole shtick comes down to liking each other and that's it.

In theory, I do love the idea of cat-loving stoic (kuudere) characters in a romance anime. Especially with the male lead being so shy and cute; I normally really like that kinda thing. But, while they were cute, they're pretty bland and it gets frustrating due to the lack of communication.

Overall

While this one fell flat for me, it is probably decent anime for those who may want a palate cleanser or something to decompress to. Or have as background noise. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it for actual well-developed characters and romances.

***No Spoilers***

A very sweet and wholesome show with some good moments, but overall was light in content. Not much happens in the show and not much progress is made in the relationship. It has a very slice of life pace to it, not that its a bad thing just might not be for everyone. However I really did enjoy the two MC's, Fuyutsuki and Himuro. They make a great believable couple that mesh really well together. I also love the fact that Fuyutsuki has more of a snow women descendants personality then Himuro the actual descendant. I would welcome a S2, too see where the two of them go in the future.

Zero-G/Liber’s 2023 mature work-based fantasy romcom was quite the hit and showed some originality in its choice of characters. This is a world like ours but one where we rub shoulders with humans who are descended from magical spirits. Himuro is one such fellow who is descended from snow folk. When he gets too hot he melts and whenever he gets emotional it starts snowing. On his first day at work, he meets the very-human Fuyutsuki his ultra-cool work-colleague to be. They hit it off immediately and even start dating. The true mystery here is, despite the fact that they clearly have strong feelings for each other their relationship never becomes intimate. So, to keep us amused, we get entertained by two other potential office couples: Komori (Fox spirit) & Saejima, and Katori (Phoenix spirit) & Otonashi. Not too much else really happens and there is very little drama. It is just all very cute and nice to watch. Everybody is ultra-nice and go around being super kawaii to each other. It all has quite the feel-good feel to it. The audience is just waiting for the romance proper to kick off and this teasing goes on for the entire season. Given that Himuro wears his heart on his sleeve – his personal snow-fall shows how he feels – then who could possibly doubt his feelings towards Fuyutsuki? Arguably this is a one-trick pony and the audience should bore of this quickly. Oddly enough we don’t, suggesting that the writing is subtle and imaginative. No real fireworks here but still worth tuning in for.
