Despite the fact that touching the duke means instant death, Alice is constantly teasing him, getting close and flirting mercilessly. But even though Alice loves to make the duke blush, her affection for him is the real deal. Can the two figure out a way to break the witch’s spell?

Shinigami Bocchan to Kuro Maid is a great watch. The whole anime is divided into two parts: the first has little to no importance for the story and only consists of comedy and a bit of fan service elements, which are not annoying, by the way, and the second has many important elements for the story development. The whole plot is rather simple. Because of a curse, the duke called ‘Duke, or Bocchan’ cannot live the way people live: because whenever he touches a living being, they will die. Hating life, forced to move away from his family into a large mansion deep in the woods, the duke is treated as if he does not exist. Thankfully, he has a maid, Alice, who helps him cheer up. Now the duke does not hate his life anymore, because he is now to find a way to lift up curse and spend his life with the girl that has never given up on him. As it has been mentioned already, the anime has many kinda filler episodes that are supposed to have some humor about them. The problem is, this anime has far too many unnecessary episodes and sometimes you just watch the new episodes, where nothing really happens and you see the same things repeated over and over again. Do not get me wrong, it is not bad, but sometimes you just want to see something new. That is not that much of a problem and will not be a problem for you at all, because what this anime can do is the fact that it can perfectly balance comedy, a tiny bit of fan service and drama. All in all, there you have it. The anime is real fun to watch, but these filler episodes that have little to no importance for the story and the story that could have used a bit of spice to return the viewers’ interest, are somewhat of a problem for me to rate it anywhere higher than 6.5/10. Not bad, but could have been much better than that.
This is a fairly average anime. A boy who kills anything that comes into direct contact with him. And his loving maid who is determined to say by his side. Animation: This uses a filter that just adds a Canvas texture to all of the background paintings. It doesn't add to this story its just meh. This uses a 3D rendering engine similar to video games to render the anime but with a 2D filter on top. This looks good in stationary shots but as soon as characters do any sort of movement, you can see the flaws of this system. Example 1 There is a scene where the Maid, Alice slowly raises her head. This is supposed to be dramatic. But this result is a weird slow-mo head tilt. The engine can do slow motion but can't do characters moving slowly. Example 2 The Duke tries to get ready and fidgets with his belt. But since this engine can't do interactions properly it looks like he is just rubbing his palms over his belt. This engine isn't suited for close-up detailed shots. It is possible but would most likely require a lot more work. Story: It's super slow in the beginning with most of the time being spent on gags, jokes, or skits, rather than pushing the story forward. You have to sit through a lot of repetitive stuff before the story really kicks off. Characters: There are some interesting characters here but the ones that matter the most are the Duke and the Maid. It's really their interaction, teasing, and flirting that keeps your interest.
This one IMO is odd. The overall story is about how some guy when he touches something it kills whatever he touches. Him and his maid tries to find a cure to this. His maid doesn't hold back in letting him know what she thinks of him, and he obviously has feelings for her but the death thing gets in the way. Here is where my problem comes in. The art is a take it or leave it. For me I don't care for it, but others might be OK with it. The characters are 2D for the most part. Like some have more depth than others, but there honestly isn't much to them. The story doesn't feel like it goes anywhere. Like it's stupid slow. This honestly should've been a bunch of shorts or they should've just brought 3 ep together. Like one part of the story, maid loses something in the snow, the guy goes outside to take a look for it, someone finds him, that someone introduces herself and stays with them for the night, that someone becomes friends with them, credits. IDK, maybe the target group was kids or stupid people that shouldn't be able to keep track of anything complicated at all. But it's boring. The only other fix for this is for this to be more of a hentia or something. Like it or not, it's just way too slow for this to be great. I doubt this will get another season.
