Like One Punch Man, Saiki K is a very overpowered character who doesn't care too much about anything, and wants to just have a normal life

Llamamoe Llamamoe says...

Both shows are an interesting spin on the "overpowered protagonist" premise, perhaps with Saiki Kusuo no Psi-nan taking the better approach, since Saiki treats his powers way more casually, while striving to live a normal life, where OPM has a sizeable "big bad of the week" syndrome.

wassimfh11 wassimfh11 says...

Both of these pieces of art were both satirical in their own ways. One-Punch Man is a well made satire about fighter animes while The disasrous life of Saiki K. is also a satirical piece about slice of life highschool animes. If you liked one you will definetly like the other

GrandfatherClock GrandfatherClock says...

theyre both parody shows with ridiculously op main characters who get kinda bored of their powers. One punch man is more actiony and saiki is more of a school life show, but in general if you liked one you will like the other

there is alot of side charaters and they both have OP powers but at the end of they day they just want to eat the thing they love most

KaiiKusumaki KaiiKusumaki says...

I'm a bit tired so I'll keep it short-

Saiki and Saitama are both super powerful and only a few people know how powerful they are. Even though they are described as OP, both the animes focus more on comedy. Ofcourse, they're also both funny.

JarbonCarbon JarbonCarbon says...

Both feature an overpowered main character. The difference in the shows is the way they differ in using their abilities and that difference can be entertaining. They are also both extremely funny and if you liked Saiki's comedy your sure to enjoy One Punch Man's

ShiranaiSan ShiranaiSan says...

Punch Man and Saiki are similar as to they feature a very strong main character. But just like in the both of them, the lead is just trying to live a very ordinary life. Saiki doesn't have the action of Punch Man, but contains a lot of very funny jokes in the same nature of the series. While Punch Man is outstanding in both jokes and it's action sequences.

FriendlyDemon FriendlyDemon says...

Does great power come with great responsibility? Watch both anime to see how the main characters deal with their OP powers and how they're just trying to live an ordinary life.

SuwaDeservedBetter SuwaDeservedBetter says...

They both include hilariously op-ed protagonists. The comedy of both shows is extremely dry.

One Punch Man and The Disastrous Life of Saiki K are very similar. They both feature an overpowered main character and are both parody/satire anime. The humor in both shows is very similar, especially in their take on overpowered characters and anime in general. They're both incredibly fun and hilarious to watch. If you like one, you'll likely enjoy the other.

DarwinsGame DarwinsGame says...

Both main characters are generally disinterested but extremely powerful, leading to all sorts of drama and ridiculous predicaments.

WackyBats WackyBats says...

I Think that if you like One Punch Man you would be entertained by Disastrous Life of Saiki too. They are both focused on a way too over powered main charater who find themselves in difficult situations. Though Saiki might be found at a highschool setting and One punch man fighting crime on the street, I still found them simular because they were both goofy and entertaining. If you watch one of these you'll be in for a laugh!

Katfee Katfee says...

Both include overpowered characters who don’t see it as same great thing and just go through their daily lives

Gray0 Gray0 says...

The characters are very similar in way that you will be used to so it very enjoy able. The powers of the characters is also a factor that make it a good recommendation

biglittleorme biglittleorme says...

Both Anime's feature an evidently overpowered protagonist that is going through life with little to no passion. They have no hope of finding someone close to their level. Whilst One Punch tends to focus more on the amazing cinematography and well-drawn fight scenes S.K leans to the more comedic side of things that One Punch skims along with.

With both anime's the secondary characters are the bread and butter with both shows having wacky and interesting characters to put our main character into action.

These are both comedy series poking fun at the usual tropes of the their respective genres, and I personally think they are both funny

Similar to One Punch Man, Saiki is OP mc but doesn't focus on story. More of a comedy and different situations that he'd use his powers. If your not looking for something more involved like My Hero Academia, or makes you feel things like Hunter x Hunter, Saiki's your deal.

sweetSword sweetSword says...

Both animes portray a super strong character who is bored of this bland world and nothing seems exciting to them. Both shows are of comedy genre but you'll find the comedy element more in The Disastrous life of Saiki K, and the action element more in One Punch Man. However One punch man follows a storyline, TDLSK is a kind of gag anime i.e, you can watch it anytime to refresh your mind.

MyHomeworkCanWait MyHomeworkCanWait says...

Both series have similar comedy and character vibes. Both MC's of the series just don't give a shit about how OP they are. 😂

Kaiten456 Kaiten456 says...

Both follow the lives of over powered protagonists while one punch man mostly an action shounen, The disastrous life of Saiki K is more of a slice of life. Both are very light hearted in some scenes while one punch man does have some heavier scenes, which of course, is because it is an action shounen. I'd recommend both of these bidirectionally if you want to give them a watch

Both share the same dry flippant sense of humour with an overpowered protagonist just trying to get by in life.

Both anime have a lot of dry, but good humor. If you enjoyed watching one of these pieces I would defenitely recommend u enjoy the other.

Jaxybobaxy Jaxybobaxy says...

Both offer witty commentary on classic anime tropes by following a protagonist who is too powerful and doesn't want to be.

UnMinded UnMinded says...

I won't make this too long, even though because of the fucking 100 words limit, but if you like both or one, then watch the other, respectively. Now, if you have watched both, I would highly suggest the ogs; Overlord, Reincarnated as a Slime, I'm Quitting Heroing, and lastly arifureta.

both center on a stoic, largly speachless overpowered protagonist who desires to live a normal school life.

Clarinet8008 Clarinet8008 says...

Both main characters are super over-powered, both anime's share similar comedy and want to keep their power a secret from their peers

AshleyB AshleyB says...

The protagonist in both anime, Kusuo Saiki and Wang Ling, both have near limitless powers and the ability to end the world in an instant. To try and prevent the distruction of the world as they know it, they both use a limiter of sorts to limit their power and help control their abilities.

While Kusuo Saiki lives in a mundane world where very few have the gift (or in his opinion, curse) of psychic powers, Wang Ling lives in a world where having powers is normal, just not nearly as strong as his. Neither want their overwhelming power to become know to those around them and try to appear more normal in the worlds eyes.

Both characters have a similar, emotionless personality trait, although for slightly different reasons, and they act in similar ways for the majority of the anime and appear indifferent about events which would usaly bother others.

Satoru101 Satoru101 says...

The guy doesn't care about anything as long as his friends don't get hurt, Although the cause is different in both it is still pretty good. It is quite the comedy as well.

SpyxHunter SpyxHunter says...

Both of them are about an overwhelming powerful Mc who want a simple life. Also, both of them can't fall in love, since Saiki just sees the inside of everyone and Wang Ling can't show his feelings, otherwise the world will perish. They both are also obsessed with a certain type of food (Saiki loves coffee jelly and Wang Ling loves dry noodles). They both also have classmates who want to be friends with them, when they don't really want to be friends back. Wang Ling seems to be a more serious version of Saiki. Wang Ling is Chinese, while Saiki is Japanese and both of them are on Netflix.

AgentAndrew0 AgentAndrew0 says...

They have the same feel. Overpowered character with incompetent parents trying to hide his abilities from the world and needs to use a device/talisman to keep said powers from causing mass destruction.

Both have OP main characters who are hiding their true powers. Both go to schools where they accidentally attracted the cutest girl in school.

Max4444 Max4444 says...

Both have OP main characters trying to live a normal school life and kinda failing at it. They are both comedy anime, but at the end The Daily Life of the Immortal King does get more serious while Saiki K stays pretty light hearted throughout the entire series.

They both have an op mc just trying to live a normal life, tackling the struggles of being unordinary and 'too powerful' beings.

Caveicu Caveicu says...

Personally I think Saiki K is just a better version of The Daily Life of the Immortal King, and it doesn't have romance.

Litoleo Litoleo says...

If you want a stupidly over powered MC that just wants a normal life then yes these two are a match. Both saiki and Wang Ling just want not to stand out but both their friends just make it so difficult

komishouko komishouko says...

The protagonists of both are very similar, VERY SIMILAR. They want nothing to do with their god level powers and just want to live a normal life. Due to them being born with these extreme powers they are being kept with a handicap as you can't fully get rid of those extreme powers. But as soon as these handicaps are taken away the world loses its balance. We also have the stereotypical popular girl who's perfect and pretty in every way, the 2 other friends who play an important role but aren't really cared for in their world as their either outcasts or average.

FlightlessRaven FlightlessRaven says...

Both anime have an overpowered protagonist who technically doesn't flaunt his powers and is usually pretty chill!

Both Saiki and Mob experience the struggles of having powerful psychic powers.  Saiki tries to hide the fact he is a psychic from his friends, while Mob tries to keep his powers under control.  The comedy from both anime stems from their respective problems

AMhuman AMhuman says...

Both Mob Psycho 100 and The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. are about characters with psychic powers and both are humorous/comedies, but not to a point where they become annoying.

NicetyL NicetyL says...

They're both hilaious and slice-of-life

Do you love overpowered apathetic physic boys? Then, you will love these animes.

The main plots of both are different as Mob's story focuses on his attempts at making friends, while Saiki's story mainly focuses on him doing his best to avoid his friends. I like Saiki K. more only because I am a big fan of dry humor and tsundere main characters. Mob is a sweetheart and I love him, but Saiki's inability to stop making friends is SO good.

Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto

In Gakuban Prefectural High School, there's a boy who just might be the coolest human being alive - a first-year student with style and finesse that solves every problem with ease, and looks absolutely fabulous in the process. Women adore him, children idolize him, and delinquents are frustrated by their inability to defeat him. The teachers can't outwit him, and when there's an animal in trouble, even the raging winds can't hold him back! Whether he's thwarting bullies, sword fighting with an angry bee, or eluding the unwanted attentions of a smitten middle-aged lady, he will always succeed and he will always look unimaginably cool while doing it. Both the protagonists are so OP that the animes sometime cross right over to ridiculous territory. Another similarity would be the delinquents with hearts of gold and of course, the beautiful but annoying girls fawning over the MCs.

Superstars111 Superstars111 says...

Both anime follow an over-the-top comedy style that's absolutely hilarious. Sakamoto is so popular, cool, and stylish that he can find a way out of almost any problem. However, he is limited by the fact that he is still a mere human (technically).

Sakamoto is so popular, cool, and stylish that he can find a way out of almost any problem. However, he is limited by the fact that he is still a mere human (technically). Everybody loves him, and he doesn't seem to mind being the center of attention.

Saiki Kusou is almost the opposite. He has psychic powers that can help him out of any situation, but he desires to be alone and out of the spotlight, which ends up being the very thing that sets his limitations.

Despite having very different main characters, both anime have a similar approach to their style of comedy. Their situations and solutions are ridiculous, but they stick to the rules they've set for their own show (usually), which keeps it from becoming a random collection of nonsense.

Sei Handa's high school life is one that many teenagers would love to have. He is admired by both students and teachers alike for his calligraphy and he even has his own fan club known as the Handa Force. Unfortunately for Sei, who has a unique talent for misreading situations, his extreme anxiety has convinced him that everyone in school hates him! The more people fawn over him, the more he is convinced that he is being bullied. The members of the Handa Force are equally clueless, misreading every word and action from Sei as something grand or heroic and completely unaware that their daily attempts to guard him from the school's various weirdos make Sei think that they are dangerous stalkers. They're very similar in terms of the protag's motivations, Tanaka wanting to be listless and Saiki wanting to be as average as possible, but with an interesting cast of friends to disrupt that.

Wyvern107 Wyvern107 says...

Both give off a similar vibe, being comedies in which the protagonist has special inhuman trait (psychic powers for Saiki, inhuman laziness for Tanaka), and attempts to survive their daily school life while being plagued with "friends", when really, the protagonist just wants to be left alone. The two anime are very different, but both give me similar vibes, and will leave you going from episode to episode like there's no tomorrow. So, if you liked one, I highly reccommend checking out the other.

Both these comedic animes are gags based on the school life of a male protagonist. The characters in both the animes speak to the audience in a way of being aware that they're in an anime. Although the pacing of The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. is faster, they both do not have a specific plot yet present the personalities of the characters in each episode.

Assassination Classroom

Assassination Classroom

A humorous and action-packed story about a class of misfits who are trying to kill their new teacher – an alien octopus with bizarre powers and super strength! The teacher has just destroyed the moon and is threatening to destroy the earth – unless his students can destroy him first. What makes things more complicated is that he's the best teacher they've ever had!

This anime has the same feel for me as Saiki Kusuo no Psi Nan TV it revolves around an everyday class turned into assassins with the task of killing their teacher to save the world and earn the large bounty on his head. While each of the characters play two roles student and assassin, teacher and target they continue their everyday lives as class 3-E the lowest class as well as the misfits and outcasts of the school. He is there target and the best teacher they have ever had, add in his amazing abilities into the mix that make him practically in killable and it makes for an exciting action packed story. this anime has a more set plot than that of Saiki Kusuo no Psi Nan TV and becomes more serious as the season progresses.

They are both very hilarious and so unique. It’s hard to find many good, well developed, non-cliché characters like the main characters in both of these. In every episode, you are sure to be laughing and I highly recommend watching them.

Ridiculous comedy anime. Assassination classroom is more action-packed, but Saiki is funnier.

The humor in Saiki and AssClass is quite similar, as are the way all its characters interact. They're both based on a premise having to do with an irregular character with powers and take place largely at a school. AssClass is far more plot-based and ends up being more serious and Saiki leaves more room for pure comedy, however.

Overpowered main character: check

A large cast of great characters: check

Largely school setting: check

One of my personal favorite animes: check

Humorous and fun: check

While the main aspects of the show are different (class trying to kill their octopus teacher vs. apathetic psychic who can't stop making friends) they are both great and colorful shows with excellent characters. I am a sucker for character development and both shows surprised me by how much the characters grow. Both are in my top 10 favorites. I HIGHLY recommend!

Gintama

Gintama

In Gintoki's Japan, the arrival of the various space races known collectively as the Amanto ended the era of the samurai. The Amanto's highly advanced technology resulted in total conquest and a severe economic shift. Now, former samurai such as Gintoki scrape together whatever livelihood they can. Gintoki's profession of choice is that of a yorozuya: he'll complete any job for money. However, he’s unmotivated; and spending most of the day on the couch with the latest issue of Jump and a carton of Strawberry Milk is his preferred pastime. It turns out that his new unpaid employees, Shinpachi and Kagura, are going to interfere with his pastime even more than with his "work"! Of course, none of this means he has really given up on his samurai ideologies!

Gintama has a similar sense of humour. Or at least, one of the types of humour frequently featured in Gintama is the same. If you find Saiki k. funny, you should really enjoy Gintama (because it is funnier). The settings are quite different though, fair warning.

The types of humor in Saiki show up often in Gintama and they're both primarily comedy anime that devote much of their runtime to their gags. All character interactions are similar as well.

gintama and saiki k have similar comedy, both worlds are.. unusual, the episodes in both animes are unrelated (except for the serious/ semi serious arcs and the multiple part episodes) i just think in general if you liked one of them you will for sure love the other one n enjoy it:3 also saiki kinda reminds me of gin chan because they both seem like they just dont care n are done with everything but they're actually always there for their friends n are always willing to help them out, p wholesome if u ask me<3

Both Gintama and Saiki K have a lot of comedy. They also have a lot of gags and randomness in each episode. Both have memorable characters. There's even a Gintama reference in the second season of Saiki K!
