Bungou Stray Dogs and The Case Study of Vanitas are similar because Dazai is a very similar character to Vanitas, and the art style, humor and overall feel of both anime are pretty similar.

Bungou Stray Dogs and Vanitas no Carte (the case study of Vanitas) are made by the same company BONES. They also have similar styles :)

NatsumeKhun NatsumeKhun says...

Vanitas heavily reminds me of Dazai and the flashy supernatural fights are quite similar as well. I think people would enjoy both of these anime.

otaku84 otaku84 says...

Both are a blend of action and comedy, featuring characters with supernatural abilities. Despite their lighthearted exterior, both shows feature a compelling plot and complex characters.

thehorcruxgirl thehorcruxgirl says...

Bungo Stray Dogs and Vanitas no Carte are very similar in multiple aspects such as the style (since both are made by Bones), the comedy and the main characters (dazai and vanitas).

AndriasSch AndriasSch says...

These main characters are so hot-headed that they can't seem to get along with anybody and are always having trifles among comrades. Their new sidequick is an innocent white-haired young man with superhuman strength who will show his fangs when his friends are in trouble. While they might be complaining and fighting all the time, they share the same objectives and have to fight against other factions who will try to get in the way of their noble objectives.

as other people have voted, i also agree that vanitas no carte and bungou stray dogs are fairly simmilar. Both involves mystery and their comedy sequences are very simmilar too as they are animated by the same animation studio(bones).

Both anime take place in Europe in the 19th century. Both anime have mystery. Moriarty the Patriot is more realistic while The Case Study of Vanitas is more supernatural.

Nirayele Nirayele says...

Both shows are set in a historical Victorian setting, with a duo of male protagonists with amazing chemistry. One is more supernatural while the other is much more realistic, but both shows are very similar in the themes they touch on.

These two shows are both for people with the same type of brain damage (me). If you like one, you'll probably like the other.

ScarletStreak ScarletStreak says...

These two animes focus similarly on justice over morals and how easily corrupted society can become. The intercharacter relationships are incredibly well-developed, as are the characters themselves. Beyond that, despite their differences, they have almost identical feelings to them. Also, if you like something where the protagonist is morally gray at best, these shows are for you.

Black Butler

Black Butler

In Victorian England it is commonplace for the rich and wealthy to have a staff, led by a head butler, to run their households; the Phantomhive Estate is no different. The young and demanding Count Ciel Phantomhive, child owner of a toy company, lives in the grand countryside manor. Sebastian is his head butler, and the epitome of perfection; he effortlessly and gracefully completes his day-to day chores and fixes the countless mistakes of the other employees. However, whilst on the outside all seems prim and proper, a more sinister secret lies just beneath the surface. Sebastian is in fact a demon bound by a contract with the young count; he will loyally serve and fight for him in return for his soul.

Even on surface level these shows have very simiar vibes. Set in an older era, fancy clothing, humerous one second and heart wrenching the next. Both of these shows are very centered around grief, loss, revenge, and new beginnings. To anyone who is looking for something to keep you on your toes, either of these shows will fill the hole that the other left.

However, there's a catch - in time, the human will be overcome by the Chain's power and then thrown into the deepest level of the Abyss. When Oz wakes up in the Abyss he is quickly attacked by hungry Chains, only to be saved by one named Alice - a Chain who appeared just before he was thrown into the prison. Together, the two make a contract and return to the real world, where they are enlisted into the Pandora organization - a group researching both the Abyss and the trio that threw Oz into it.  Along with members of Pandora, the duo searches to find Alice's lost memory fragments that are scattered throughout the world, to discover the secrets of the Abyss, and to determine if there's a way their contract can be broken without killing either Oz or Alice.

If you've just finished watching it, I would highly reccomend you'd give this a try!
