Both these focus on teenagers who have been neglected in their childhood and were shuffled around from place to place (because of their unsettling ability to see beings that regular people cannot) before finally finding a permanent place to call home.

Both of these anime are about a young person who loses their immediate family and starts shuffling through relatives. Because of their ability to see spirits, but not understand them, they are seen as strange. Their lives are changed by a strange book and an ancient being.
