The Familiar of Zero

The Familiar of Zero

In a world where magic is a reality, the young Louise is at the bottom of her class. Dubbed "Zero" by her classmates at Tristein Academy (due to her zero success rate for magic), Louise (along with all first year students) was charged with summoning a familiar; and instead of a cute magical creature, the familiar arrived in the form of... Saito Hiraga, a normal Japanese boy who was abruptly teleported from his own world?! Can both Louise and Saito come to terms with their new and complicated "relationship" and (more importantly) help Saito find a way home?

If you liked any of either Zero no Tsukaima or Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari you are almost bound to like the other one, although there are mechas in Isekai you have almost the same plot and good visual content. I really recommend that you see them if you like on or the other, you will enjoy it

These are the points these animes have in common

  1. Ecchi, Harem Genre
  2. Main Character is from a different world
  3. Main Character plays important role in saving alternate world
  4. Main Character wants to go home

If you liked this anime you will like the other.

Both titles follow the story of a rather clueless boy, in a strange world, who's being tortured in many funny ways by a horde of females. In addition to that, both plots develop in the academy of a fantasy world.

JAhU JAhU says...

There are so many similarities between Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari and Zero no Tsukaima that I don't even know where to start. I think I'll limit myself to pointing out that the protagonist in both of those series is a Japanese boy summoned (against his will) to a medievalish fantasy world. Chances are that you'll like one of those if you liked the other.

P.S. Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari has much more likable characters though.

Infinite Stratos

Infinite Stratos

The development of the Infinite Stratos powered exoskeleton changed the world’s balance of power. While the distribution of IS systems has created peace, only women have been able to pilot them. So when Ichika Orimura is discovered to be the first male with the ability to control an IS, whatever plans he had for his future are tossed out the window even as he’s thrown to the wolves and enrolled at the otherwise entirely female Infinite Stratos Academy by order of the Japanese government!

Both anime have a similar feel, there is a school for piloting mecha and the main character is a male in a world of pilots that in one case is all female and in another case the males aren't piloting even though some can.

KittyEmperor KittyEmperor says...

One guy capable of piloting a mecha surrouned by a group of women most of whom to are also capable of piloting mechs as well.  Though of course there are differences for example Isekai has more of classical fantasy world feel to it and Infinite Stratos has more of a slightly furturstic feel to it.  Also in Isekai that while the mecha battles are important they don't play as large of a role for a time as they do in Infinite Stratos.  Still if you liked one of these then you may to check out the other as well.

Adoondas Adoondas says...

In bouth anime we have a male character that is somewhat dense, is able to operate robot suits, wich is normally imposible(this reffers more to infinite stratos), and have a harem at their disposal that they are unaware of.Bouth  anime have a simmilar feel to them.

Kreados Kreados says...

in both infinite stratos and Isekai no Seikisho Monogatari, society is dominated by females as they are the ones who can pilot the mecs, there are more male pilots in Monogatari then IS, but they are still as valuable. Both series have a good harem and are pretty ecchi. If you like one, chances you will like the other.

If you like Dual or Isekai No Seikishi Monogatari's style then you'll likely love the other story as well. Both have a similar style of storytelling (a mix of mecha fights and school interactions). Both series are from the same creator (Masaki Kajishima) and the actual plotlines, although in located different settings, share multiple similarities (females piloting mechs and a somewhat shy protagonist).

Dagon123 Dagon123 says...

Dual! and Isekai No Seikishi Monogatari share a lot of the same traits, both contain a male protaganist surrounded by females, in a school like setting with Giant Mechs, both were created by the same person (Masaki Kajishima), so the similarities are striking

If you though that a character who is skilled at almost everything (up to the level of awesomeness) is interesting to watch, then you surly won't be disappointed with Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari and Hayate the Combat Butler!. Both Hayate from Hayate the Combat Butler! and Kenshi from Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari are such individuals.

Definantsaly both were skilled and were fast learners. You kind of felt their immaturity towards bossy girls.  They also both started out about to do something bad to their girls in the beginning.  Great similaraties!

I can see how they are both similar, however in my opinion, Vandread has a LOT more humor in it.

The plot lines run very similar as both male characters have been summoned to another world/universe to help combat some form of tragedy. Both shows have a great mixture of characters filling the show with comedy and always keeping you on your toes about what will come next. Fighting, magic, ecchi, harem, tsundere, both shows seem to have everything you would want from the other.

Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari feels like a more modern telling of El-Hazard. From plot,  animation, character design, and even the pace of the show seem to be on par. Characters have similar personalities within both shows. Both shows revolve around a main character from another world, who play a major part in their new world.

I definitely recommend you either anime whether you've already seen one or considering to watch either Heroic Age or Isekai. They are both must watch animes which ill give 5 stars to. The main similarity is between the two main characters Age and Kenshi which both have the same feel of confidence and strength. Be warned Isekai has ecchi scenes however it is not excessive nor the emphasis of the show.

While watching  Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari i was often feeling as if i was watching Mai Otome. Both series have a very heavy sci fi/fantasy hybrid feel with main protagonists at a school for people training to use special magic/science type abilities. Both series also deal with societies which prevent certain individuals from fall in love due to the social constarints placed on them due to their positions. Although the genders are reversed they both are very similar in style and some story elements.
