Both titles focus on martial arts of more or less fantastic degree, and both focus on the power struggles between each character and their faction. They're quite thematically alike.

Everyone has their own motive, and their own fighting style. When speaking of fighting, there is plenty more here, why don't you check it out?

Iwashiro Iwashiro says...

In both animes you have great heros and (martial art) fighters and the fights (as well as the characters) are really very much overemphasize, which is a thing not everybody likes but if you like such a style, you will probably have fun with both animes.

But note: While Fist of the North Star can be seen as really serious (and in my opinion great) anime with a very deep story and strong characters, you shouldn't take Tekken too serious or expect a great storyline at all... but you should be fine, if you see Tekken just as a piece of entertaining stereotype anime ;-)

Both Tekken and Street Fighter find their roots in very popular fighting games. Both feature random fighting scenes to show as many of the characters from the games. Though, that's what we like about it right? Plenty of fighting action !

Both video game cash-ins, Street Fighter being the better of the two. But Tekken is always good for a giggle as well. If you love martial arts Anime then you won't be disappointed...

Both movies have a large cast of fighters, good, evil and in-between. They are also based on popular fighting video game franchises. Both animes also contain lots of action scenes but still have a decent stroy as well.

Fighting movies made from their games. Though SF Alpha manages to keep a more coherant story, fighting is what it's all about.

Both of these anime are based on fighting games of the same name, and as such are very similar in nature. The plots might seem rather superficial to those who don't have prior knowledge of the respective games, but the radical martial arts in each title will definitely satisfy the fans.

This anime is a spawn of one of the good ol' classic fighting game, like Tekken, both go back a long way. Both have pretty kickass fighting scenes which relive the ingame moves the characters use, as well as being true to the games' storylines.

Although they both have similar 'trials' they must go through in order to achieve what they wish, Street Fighter follows Ryu closely as its main protagonist whereas Tekken has multiple main protagonists, the most prominent being Jun Kazama, Kazuya Mishma and Jin Kazama.

Both animes have enjoyable plot moments and a story that you can really get into, especially if you love martial arts and character development. But hell, whatever type of anime person you are you won't be disappointed as you find yourself watching them again and buying the games :).

Both are made from video games. both are quite terrible to sit through and make you wish you were playing the game instead. with a few fighting sequences and random drama between the characters that the anime viewer won't quite get unless they played the games (possibly LOL), check one out if you for some reason liked the other.

Another anime inspired by a fighting videogame. Tekken is a much better animated movie, even if shorter.

If you're a big fan of fighting games, then you've probably played, and enjoyed both of these game that these two anime are based on. If that's the case then you may well find some enjoyment from seeing your favourite characters fully animated, and kicking ass on the small screen.

If you're not a fan of these games, then i wouldn't recommend either as they are filled with animation, pacing, directing, character design and plot flaws that can make it almost unwatchable. But diehard fans should at least get a kick out of them!
