Both Tanaka-kun is Always Listless and My Love Story!! (Ore Monogatari) feature a touching friendship that adds depth and character to the story.  Ohta is Tanaka-s best friend, and he will do whatever it takes to help his buddy, even if it means shouldering him and carrying him somewhere he needs to be when Tanaka is too tired/sleepy to be bothered going himself.  Suna, in MLS, always is there to help HIS pal, even if it means helping him to study to gain entrance into an all-girls school or letting him steal a practice kissing session!  If you like the friendship dynamics of Suna and Gouda OR those of Tanaka and Ohta, you'll like the bromance set up in the other story.  For that reason, I recommend these for each other.

Both shows are cute and amusing little slice-of-life anime shows, featuring a seemingly unlikeable-at-first-glance protagonist, and his circle of friends, especially one best buddy.  But, only at first glance!  Turns out both Gouta and Tanaka are loveable and will grow on you as character leads!  Both shows feature a slower pacinng of humor, and devoted best friends by their side that you'll want for yourself as a friend.

If you enjoyed the relaxed pace and sweet charm of one of these, I've no doubt you'll enjoy the other.

Barakamon

Barakamon

When calligrapher Sei "Seishuu" Handa becomes so enraged at a judge's critique of his work that he actually punches the old man, his father decides that Sei needs to reflect on his behavior and sends him to a remote island to live. Far from the modern conveniences of the city, the moody artist must adapt to his rural environment and his quirky but well-intentioned neighbors. How can he focus on his art when his appliances frequently don't work, his neighbors keep bothering him, and the neighborhood children have turned his house into a secret base?

Sianeka Sianeka says...

You've just seen a charming and sweet glimpse into a relaxed world with a protagonist who faces his daily struggles and life stresses with the aid of his close-at-hand circle of devoted friends.  And now you want to see more!  You want to immerse yourself further into their daily life stories, but unfortunately, the series is over.

Since this description matches both Barakamon and Tanaka-kun wa Kyou mo Kedaruge, do yourself a favor and watch the other one.  I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Both shows offer a slower paced journey to a world populated by fun but troubled characters and episodic adventures depicting the life of the lead protagonist and his loyal friends who help to aid him to navigate this world that is so difficult for him to deal with on his own.

Nothing really happens in this show and nothing really needs to. Just some odd, quirky students going to school and having a good time.

School life, slightly overpowered main characters, comedy, not very sophisticated animation and soundtrack. Both anime are a bit similar, yet unique, funny and worth watching during free time:)

Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei

Life is simply not worth living for down and out school teacher Itoshiki Nozomu. He has no hope of progress, no prospect of promotion, no chance at happiness… he is in despair! Even his name spells 'zetsubou' – 'despair', when compressed. But when the time comes to end it all, Itoshiki's attempted suicide on the first day of the new school year is foiled by relentlessly positive Fuura Kafuka. This saves Itoshiki long enough to meet his new class, and the quirky range of students under his care. Will Itoshiki Nozomu depress his students with his anguish? Or will Fuura show Zetsubou-sensei the joys of life and hope?

If you liked Tanaka-kun is Always Listless, you'd also like Goodbye, Despair Teacher, because both animes has kinda similar humour form, both are funny and has 'messages between lines'.

Similar in art style, comedy, and tropes. Tanaka-kun has a smaller cast and less absurdity, but the pacing reminds me of Nichijou's beats.

If you liked Natsume Yuujinchou or Tanaka-kun is always listless, you might like the other one as both have a rather calm and comforting feeling to them. Since they´re both Slice of life shows, both focus on the everyday life of the main character and the people surrounding them.
