Scrapped Princess and Tales of the Abyss have so much in common that fans of one are very likely to enjoy the other. They are both fantasy stories set in a pseudo Medieval setting where lost technology exists in the form of steam driven machines, where spells, sword fighting, prophecies and mystical battles and powerful magical/religious sects dominate. Royal but unfortunate leads and a sense of questing with plenty of travelling thrown in for good measure only make these anime even more alike.

Both of these anime follow very similar plotlines, both of them are in a fantasysetting, with some sort of outcast main character. Both of them feature numerous battles involving swordfighting and magics as well. If you liked one, you should check out the other.

Tales of the Abyss is a traditional swords&sorcery anime to the bone. Featuring a nice mix of humor, adventure, action and a pinch of drama.

Slayers is a classic in this genre, and also has these ingredients. So you can count on having a big, fun adventure with a huge cast of colorfoul characters. And who knows? Maybe some of these character who cross our heroes' path aren't all that they seem?

So if you're liking 'Tales of the Abyss', you owe it to yourself to check out what is widely considered one of the very best series in its genre. Slayers is a classic series that deserves to be watched.

Like Tales of the Abyss, InuYasha has action, a bit of magic related to fighting, and a magical land. They both have the idea of good vs. bad.

InuYasha has more romance in it than Tales of the Abyss does.

Both these shows are based off very popular video games. Their story takes place in different worlds, but some of the themes are the same. The characters are very deep and learn much about themselves, others, and the world around them. And every character is very original! The art is the same, and very beautiful. Fans of one show will love the other for sure!

Both of these shows are based off RPG video games. The animation is, in my opinion, very well done and slightly similar in both of these. They both have battles, magic, and a quest to save their worlds! I think fans of one will like the other.

A party of sword wielders and magic users set out on a journey to save the world.  This is the RPG-esque premise of both Tales of the Abyss and Night Wizard.

Tales of the Abyss has quite a bit more character development than Night Wizard, though they both have a cast of great characters that compliment each other, as well as excellent battles in almost every episode.  If you liked one, definitely try the other!

Both of these animes stride to achieve a lot, and successfully do so. In both shows our protagonists are both highly sheltered individuals who become exposed to the suffering in the world, and seek to change. Over coming great obstacles, our protagonists and their companions change their worlds. If you're looking for an anime with a big adventure, filled with an intriguing plot, humor and action and enjoyed either Tales of the Abyss or Zoids Genesis, I recommend the other to you.

Even though I do not know why Tales of the Abyss and Valkyria Chronicles should be recommended for each other but while I was watching one I got the feelings of the other.  They each both involve a type of magic and interesting personalities.

Both Last Exile and Tales of the Abyss are very similar animes. Incredible fantasy worlds (LE being more of a Steampunk, and TotA being a more general swords and magic fantasy) revolving around brilliant characters. In both series, 2 nations arep itted against eachother in battle by a third party that wishes destruction to them, and each focuses heavily on character growth. Last Exile seems to be a more mature series, focusing on the main characters growing up into a man, whereas Tales of the Abyss had comedy, and light-hearted drama sprinkled in. Both are excellent series, and if you like one, you may enjoy the other :]

Tales of the Abyss and Arakawa Under the Bridge may not play out plot-wise, but they do have incredible similar main characters. Both Luke and Kou start off as whiney, spoiled rich kids who come into a mature adult hood, and even better, acceptance of themselves as individuals at the end of the series.
