This series has been one of my favorites of all the anime I have watched since I started to watch anime a number of years ago.  They did a wonderful job with this Sword Oratoria of linking it with the parent story of this series.  They used very little of the parent story, just enough to key you into the timeline while they follow the two MCs of this anime throughout the entire season.  This follows the Loki familia and Ais and Lefiya as the MCs of this season.  This continues the theme as does all the seasons of overcoming all odds, being self aware, striving to better oneself, protecting those you care about, understanding others, learning from experience, and much more.  As with the parent anime there is a lot of action, a great build of the story over the entire season, a number of very likeable characters that you root for and want to overcome all odds, and of course world building of the series by looking through the eyes of Ais, Lefiya, and the Loki familia.  I like the MCs of the parent story a lot, but this enriches the story by giving you different perspectives with more view points and mindsets to grow the story to new heights.  This like the entire series is not suitable for children, there is nudity, and like in the parent story which they do spend some time which is unnecessary of the guys trying to peek on the woman bathing (with Bell's grandfather pushing him in his recalls/memories to do things NO ONE SHOULD such as trying to kiss Ais when she is sleeping), here in this season they have a lot of woman interested in sizing up breast sizes by words, and by touching, unnecessary as well.  Enjoy!!!!!

Thoroughly entertaining if you havent read the LN's....the people who didnt enjoy this most likely have....this didnt have the immense substantive character development of Bell that season 1 did....but it was all important world building nonetheless....you couldnt have these characters join the familia wihtout explaining how and why....and obviously the last two episodes of the season set up the next season or add something to sword oratoria....8/10...i wont speak on the story value in score because i am just starting the LN's....have fun its a good show however you look at it

Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka Gaiden: Sword Oratoria

Sword Oratoria: Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? On the side

This season should be viewed between seasons 1 and 2 if possible. It coincides with Season 1 and tells the story of the Loki family while Bell Cranel had his own journey. Incidentally, it has certain characters and references to season 3, but these have no influence on season 2. So you won't let yourself be spoiled by this season, as it has little reference to season 2.

Basically, this season is more plot based than the first and offers more explanation in that area as well. The problem is, however, that this season there is hardly any tension and that many scenes drag on until it finally comes to the point.

What I liked, however, is how this season complemented itself with season 1 and showed the transition of the loli families to all scenes from season 1 and what went on behind the scenes.

Other than that, it's Danmachi's weakest season.

Story

The plot is a bit more interesting than the previous season, but that's about it. Mostly you only see the adventures of the Loki family while Bell had his own and the stories overlap every now and then. You learn a bit more about the dungeon and otherwise it was.

Animation / pictures

Animations were mostly average, except for a few highlights in which the fights were raised. Apart from that, they were a bit weaker than their predecessor.

Characters

You see a lot more of the Loki family here than in all seasons combined, but not enough. In the foreground of the season is the elven magician who wants to catch up with her idol Aiz. She is, in the sense, a female Bell Cranel. The only difference is that she is unsympathetic, annoying and extremely intrusive. Her character is also quite flat and her ambitions are negligible. It's like a failed attempt to create a second Bell character.

The rest of the Loki family also had no depth of character or noteworthy developments. It's like looking at a season from the perspective of supporting characters who are actually eaten into their monotonous roles.

Music

The intro was at rock bottom and I would skip it every time.
The Osts were also just average.

Conclusion

You can and should watch this season if you are interested in the other seasons. And if not, then you should get a short summary and can skip it

First season was told from the perspective of Bell and his Hestia familia but in this series we get the story from the person Bell looks up to, which is Ais and her Loki famlilia. It's the same timeframe but with a slightly different angle. They didn't brand this as the second season and that is probably because Bell's story is going to continue.

The story is slightly grittier with some murders and some more behind the scene backstabbing but at the same time the fanservice got cranked up a fair bit.

Ais is an established sword user and everybody admirers her, it's an interesting character to follow after Bell's adventures. The approach is interesting because during Bell's adventures Ais keeps showing up which motivates Bell to work harder but those moments have been kinda pushed to the background in this series... Some moments don't even make an appearance at all to create room for character progression in its own series.

Ais was a big part of the first series but Bell is a background character in this series, it's kinda weird but at the same time it makes sense since Ais and het familia weren't really included in the last few episodes of the first series, allowing room for their own progression.

However... there is a real cancer in the show called Lefiya, one of the most obnoxious characters ever created! She complains every minute she's on the screen and she's jealous as fuck. There is nothing enjoyable about this character whatsoever.

Curious to see what the second season of Bell's adventure will bring though.

The biggest issue I personally had with this was that they didn't continue the anime where they should have. Bell was an amazing character with an incredible story lay out that had a lot of promise as far as story telling.

This new MC was just annoying and in my opinion boring to watch. It doesn't help that almost nothing was really achieved in this one.

I'm just waiting to see if this character will be in the new season (if there is going to be one) and what they will do with Bell. From what I've read from the reviews everyone seems to share a similar point of view.

It was fun getting more of a backstory on Ais but I just couldn't enjoy it when they basically replaced the main character without a clear reason. There was no reason to build up one who was not mentioned or seen in the first season. It's like this was season one and they wanted you to act as if nothing happened.
