The only reason that I am giving SAO anything other than a 1 is because the first episode is so well put together and directed that I thought maybe all of the critics whose opinions that I respect could have been wrong. Mayube SAO is actually decent.

It wasn't and I gained absolutely nothing from having watched it and I would have dropped it at episode 3 or 4 if my husband hadn't forced me to watch it.

Where shall I start with this amazing anime, first the overall story. It has a fantastic blend between action and romance that hooks you on right from the start. It's the year 2022. And thousands are excited for the new game, sword art online! From the beginning, Kirito the main male character befriends a man named Klein but leaves him after going to a new village to get resources. There he befriends the main female character Asuna and soon gets married to her. Anyway they're all stuck in a game that you can only log out of if you beat the game. So there you have it. 10/10 for story. There isn't much to talk about with the animation but I know for a fact that they did very well with mimicking the manga drawings so a 10/10 for that. There's not much about sound either and it depends on what you are watching it on so it's a bit blank but on Netflix I experienced pretty good sound. Finally comes the characters and in my opinion there was a really lovely mix. Because you've got it starting off with Kirito, then it starts opening up a bit . And so comes the end of my review saying watch this anime!!!!

Sword Art Online is the anime about a death game, where 10,000 people are trapped in a virtual reality where death in the game is death in the real world.

STORY:

Sword Art Online, or SAO, is based off light novels of the same name. I might as well review it arc by arc, so I'll start with the first one: Aincrad.

The Aincrad arc is the first 12 or so episodes. This sets the tone for the whole series and introduces main characters. It is really the first 3 episodes that center on this plot, and then it seems to branch off into side-stories, weaving in Slice of Life that shows how life works inside the game, which is much needed at times, to help immerse the viewer.

The story is romantically-inclined, it's undeniable, but the first arc still does a good job of keeping the big plot in line and delivering when it needed to. The same can not be said for the "Fairy Dance" arc.

So, it turns out that after the SAO incident, Asuna and 200 other people get trapped in ANOTHER game ran by a pervert who wants to create perfect mind control. Oh, and he rapes Asuna, too. But, even on top of that, there's a huge thing about how Kirito's sister, who is actually his cousin, is in love with him, forming a love triangle.

But that is the impression you get if you only watch the anime. The light novel goes more into the brain research and mind control scheme, so it is much better to read this arc.

ANIMATION:

Blending 3D graphics with state-of-the-art character animation, it certainly feels realistic and has a polished level of detail. However, there were some moments I wasn't too hot on, but that's not important.

SOUND:

Like any anime, they recycle the songs they compose. However, they create a perfectly fitting soundtrack, from the theme song to the battle BGM. Oh, and Kirito yells. A lot.

CHARACTERS:

The characters are believable and the writers really do capture the essence of an MMO world, and it's patrons. Kirito and Asuna are very deep and rich characters, as well. Full props.

OVERALL:

While the anime does not do the story complete justice, it is an amazing adaption. I still fully recommend reading the light novels, as it will definitely offer more insight into the story.

This anime is without a doubt one of the most unique I have ever watched. I would highly recommend it. It definitely is not the mind bending thriller that death note is, but it has a lot of action and a good thing going. For anyone who has played MMO's you will quickly relate to this anime. This anime could be the best one ever, the story line is limitless.

Outline: New online game Sword Art Online is released utilizing NerveGear. A simulation that is basically an MMO reality. Players get trapped in the game and have to conquer 100 levels to get ouf of the world.

The story is well set-up and introduced, The characters are amazing, but they don't have that deep of a background story added up, The animation and graphics look amazing and the sounds are original to the anime IMO.

The story/plot is good, goes deep and gets executed well in SAO, ALFheim is a bit less tbh.

I don't know what you all want to read here, But if you're into the "Stuck in a different world/game" category of Animes, This is a good one to watch.
