Sword Art Online: Progressive Movie 2 - Scherzo of Deep Night

Over a month has passed since 10,000 users were trapped inside the SAO game. Asuna, who cleared the first floor of the floating iron castle of Aincrad, joined up with Kirito and continued her journey to reach the top floor. With support from the female Information Broker Argo thrown into the mix, clearing the floors seemed to be progressing smoothly, but… The top player groups leading in clears are “ALS” the Aincrad Liberation Squad and “DKB” the Dragon Knights Brigade. Conflict erupts between these two major guilds that should be working together. But behind the scenes exists a mysterious figure pulling the strings… In a dangerous battle of death, there is an “assault” that differs from the “threat” And it will all involve Asuna and Kirito…!

Ill preface by saying this is coming from a massive fan of SAO and I'm going to be a bit biased, although this will probably be a shorter review for me. Some may disagree with my positive review (a lot of SAO haters out there), but I think it deserves more credit given how its still going strong and providing us with actually decent material to consume. Definitely glad this was a movie rather than included in the show. As a fan I would have rather had all of this put in the show in the first place and just made the show longer but given the circumstances it kinda makes sense they would put this in a movie since its not particularly important for the rest of the story. It covers content that while may not be considered "important" for the rest of the story, it's nice to be aware of what happened in the time jump we missed in the beginning of the show. I'm fairly certain that most of the progressive movies that will be coming out, based on what we have been given so far, are going to cover smaller aspects of Aincrad that we missed in the show, but were't terribly important. The highlight of this one is the commmunity relationships and dynamics that come from slowly but surely becoming acclimated to this environment, as well as a bit more insight on the closer relationships, like between Kirito and Asuna. Frankly while I most definitely enjoyed watching this, I'm more interested in seeing the Elf Wars and am looking forward to that adapatation more than anything else. If you are a SAO fan boy like I am you probably appreciate any new content to consume and I'm definitely not complaining. Really good. Not amazing, but good enough to scratch that SAO itch that will probably never go away. It well worth the watch if you are a fan. Boss fight is cool as hell, as always if you are an old school MMO player and loved raid fights with groups that coordinate well together, this will invoke some nostalgia.
