Spoilers Ahead, You have been warned.

I was somewhat looking forward to Alicization as I hadn't read the light novel unlike the others. That being said, after finishing all the episodes I am wholely dissapointed by this series.

TLDR: Don't watch it, likely theres going to be 24 more episodes, wait for that to release. Otherwise you'll just reach an unsatisfying ending.

The Character Gap

I am fine with regular characters and I enjoy OP characters, Sword Art has this whole thing with pretending Kirito isn't overpowered. Okay, thats fine, but even if he takes a few hits every now and then to outweigh the winning it doesn't make him "Normal". Make him OP or make him realistically normal.

The innescapably slow story progression...

Sword Art Online was 24 episodes, 12 for SAO, 12 for Alfheim.
Sword Art Online II was 24 episodes, 12 for GGO, 12 for Side Stories (going by the thumbnail since i never finished GGO).
Alicization is 24 episodes... and is actually likely going to be 48 episodes when its actually complete, that's a massive time to dedicate to this arc that has overall been pretty generic and slow progressing.

This isn't a review

It was nice until they got into the tower... There was the info-dumping, the too trusting to kids, and the saving the enemy's life (but Alice is understandable since she was Eugeo's reason to be there).. Also, I was annoyed that Eugeo gave in quickly. Oh.. and Cardinal.. yeah.

[Spoiler alert]
Oh.. There was also that time when they were in the academy.. those two girls are clearly aware what the two nobles can do but they still gone to their room to complain.. just the two of them.. sigh.. isn't that idiotic..? Well, I know it's for plot.. but still.. isn't that idiotic..?!

Well, all-in-all, It was nice. I'll probably watch the next season. Since, I'm curious about what's happening at the other side.

*SPOILERS LAY WITHIN, TREAD CAREFULLY*

WAHOOOOOO we finally got an interesting male character that's not Kirito that's sticking around!!!!

...Or so I thought...*dies a little on the inside*...

Episodes where they were just siting around in that library were weak but the rest was actually great. Eugeo *sob, sob, SOB* was a well written character that was a male for once.

The fight were as SAO style as ever and didn't dissapoint. The music, animation, subtitles and voice acting were great too.

Honestly Alice was cool too, but it already had Asuna and Sinon as strong female charaters but what was really suprising was Eugeo but of course anything good is not permitted to stay. IF YOU WANTED TO PULL AT HEARTSTINGS THEN ALICE WOULD'VE BEEN A BETTER CHARACTER TO DISPOSE OF, WE ALREADY HAVE TOO MANY FLIPPIN' FEMALES, BUT NOOOO YOU CAN'T KILL A GIRL, YOU CAN MAKE IMPLIED NEAR RAPE BUT YOU CAN'T KILL EM BECAUSE EUGEO WAS TOO GOOD AND WE CAN'T HAVE THAT NOW CAN WE?

Anyway, the last comment to be said is what the flippin heck was that ending? Where's the next part at? Is there any chance of revival of the best character the series has had so far? So many questions...

I want to state first that I am for the most part a fan of SAO but this arc has fustrated me to no end where I just feel the need to express it writing this review. I mean its been 22 episodes already as of writing this but the series has been 90% monologue and 10% percent fighting if you can even call it a fight.

I agree that not every episode needs to be some fight but my god the whole series has basically been all talking and essentially info dumping instead of showing off the world. That itself would've been somewhat tolerable to me if the fights were big and fun sakuga style fights but they weren't. They barely had anything to even really call a fight. For the most part SAO has always been pretty good at building up to the fight but the fights themselves in this series is like if you were expecting a nice DBZ fight only to be delivered something where no punches are thrown and instead it all ends in a single kamehameha. Its flashy as hell but nothing of substance.

Overall I am just dissappointed considering this is coming off of the gun gale series which was just fun to watch and relatable as a gamer, though some parts were a bit wierd storywise.
