Plot Summary: Space Dandy (SD) is an anthology anime that focuses on the crew of the Aloha Oe: Space Dandy, the perverted and absent-minded captain: Meow, the stowaway that loves social media: and QT, the cleaning robot who has to help with everything and keep the crew under control. All three are hunters looking for rare aliens to register, and their adventures keep them in constant contact with new planets. The crew is pursued by Dr. Gel and the Gogol Empire, who have plans for galactic domination with Dandy as the final piece…             Most of the plot mentioned is unimportant and only appears in select episodes. SD is much more focused on impressive animation, genre bending, catchy music and random cultural jokes. I call this an anthology because most of the adventures have nothing to do with the plot and the characters have no goal beyond catching aliens and going to Boobies, their favorite breastaurant. The characters may have a few episodes devoted to them, but the crew is a device to explore anime clichés and American culture. The secondary characters are much more interesting than the leads, with Scarlet the registration secretary as my personal favorite.             Animation: SD is an animator’s dream, with money and talent spent on making the best animation that can be crammed in to each episode. The stories are in service to the animation, with the animators and designers as the stars. There are many memorable sequences, designs and aliens, and they will stick with me much more than the characters.             Music: The music for SD is fantastic and the second anime to have me yearn to buy the soundtrack. The OP and ED are stylish, fun and make for amazing bookends. The OP and ED are the most involved bookends I have encountered in anime, as the lyrics are direct references to SD that make sense after viewing the entire series.             Potential: SD displays its ability to be emotional through several of its episodes, with some of my favorite episodes piercing its shallow presentation. I believe that the creators knew what they were creating, and decided to go in a very certain direction. If only they could have focused on having more emotional stories once in a while...             Final Thoughts: Space Dandy is for animation fanatics, music fans and for those who can accept the unexplored story and characters. Those looking for another Cowboy Bebop will be disappointed; those who are willing to accept SD for its true self will have a blast.

I had watched several Space Dandy episodes already and so far, there is little but complex plots in the episodes and no plot at all to move the series along. We had the first season, where Dandy talked about body parts when he sees women and there was an annoying woman who comes from a restaurant with its name taken from a private part. At first, I thought the series was extremely cool but as it gets further, you'll realize that Dandy is a pervert which makes us realize how disappointing he actually is.Then, when I heard that there was going to be a 2nd season arguably titled "Space Dandy 2" or "Space Dandy 2nd Season", I didn't really like the ideas of giving them a new title, it REALLY should've been one big show with whatever combined episodes.Pretty much each episode that I've seen have different writers and this was a bad thing if they're not careful enough to keep the show's brilliance. After looking at more episodes of this show, I thought that it was made to be a related anime or even a follow-up to Bebop because almost everything about it (despite some parts of Space Dandy) reminded me very much of Bebop and I also was disappointed yet satisfied. The thing is, the show tried too hard to be overly unique to Bebop like Dandy's perverted personality, him kissing Scarlett and last night's episode where Dandy was looking at fireworks and an annoying little girl with the generic and annoying anime voice for little girls which made me go "Wow...". Not to mention that the theme song looked childish with techno music that gives you a weird feeling about it. Indeed the music is less memorable than Cowboy Bebop's and so does this show. The art and animation was excellent for the most part but in some parts of the show, they feel off compared to how they were intended for the series.I found out that this show was directed by the same person that directed Bebop and I was like "How did he go downhill?" Because I've seen a lot of shows from him I never seen one that I thought was just as disappointing to some extent. Shows like this need to capture the same feel of Bebop.
