Story: Soul Eater is an anime about school kids that train to exorcise evil which is slightly reminiscent of d.gray-man yet it manages to itself. It starts off well and keeps building momentum until it ceases with an extremely sub-par ending which is so disappointing because had it not been for the rather abysmal ending, this would be one amazing anime. However, except for that flaw, Soul Eater is quite an anime that balances a high level of humor with a lot of action keeping it fast paced and without any dull spots. Even it's filler episodes are hilarious and don't take away from the overall action.

Animation: I was a huge fan of the Tim Burtonesque feel of the animation. It was bright, lively, clean and sharp, and expressions were highly exaggerated for comical effect and though it was somewhat cartoonish, it was done very well and fit the overall attitude of the anime. It stood out from other anime because of it's rather distinct, halloweenish art in a good way.

Sound: Quite original and very suitable. It never detracted from the scenes and actually enlivened them. It was most definitely not forgettable with its mixture of hip hop and action music. Both opening were good though I really had a preference for the 2nd. The 3rd ending was the most original and catchy to me but the 4th described the anime the best. Although the 2nd one was cute, it was not suitable at all because it was so glaringly out of place for the intense action scenes that were taking place. Other than that, the music was very well done.

Characters: THough most of them fall under a stereotype, they each have rather unique personalities with the exception of maybe Black Star, who seems to me to be a Naruto parody/rip-off? They are all rather extreme in personality and have such hilarious dynamics that add to the overall feel of the anime and take it up a whole level. They make the anime what it is and could easily have fallen flat but thanks to their voice actors and depth they each shone. Even Black Star, who really annoyed me in the beginning, grew on me.

Overall: Definitely an anime worth seeing despite it's lackluster ending. The whole of the anime really does make up for it's not so great ending. There are a few ecchi moments, but they don't last long and are fairly forgettable in conjunction with the other elements of the anime. Watch if you love comedy and action because it's quite a wonderful blend of both.

Where do I even start? I'm a sucker for any anime or manga with a unique art style, so that was an automatic hook for me, but boy do I love everything else about it. Now, the reason I didn't give the story a full 10/10 is mainly because of how many ups and downs there were, but this anime played it off so well it always left me wanting more. I binged this in just a few days because I (and this might be the adhd talking) could barely think about anything but the cliffhanger I had just left off on. Sound? Matched perfectly with what was going on (well, as good as anime gets). Characters? The representation got me. Crona not having a gender and getting anxious about random things, Death the Kid and his OCD, not only is it relatable for people who don't get much recognition but it also plays along with the rest of the storyline. That's hard to do when you write a story, especially if that story is going to be animated. Unlike the anime, this review was horribly written and I do apologize for any mistakes as I'm not very good with writing.

Look, you can say whatever you want about Soul Eater, but I was incredibly invested in it as a teenager and now I'm a Nationally Registered Badass™ and also Very Hardcore©, so who's really the loser here?

10 out of 10 stars for totally, definitely being the reason why I'm thriving in the year 2021 and you're not.

This is one of my favorites of all time.. BUT the filler episodes of excalibur were overwhelming. I have never seen a series of fillers that are this bad other than Naruto. I enjoy the main idea and the plot is really good but the continuation of the story is mediocre. The animation and the background designs are really good.

Story:  I loved the story line.  It always kept me entertained and i couldn't wait for the next episode to start.  Only thing that they could have changed is add more about the side character and not just show them here and there.  They did though go into the back stories of the character and you see where each of them came from and why they act as they do.

Animation: The characters moved very smoothly and everything had a lot of effort put into it.  I really enjoyed the fight scenes and liked watching the motions the characters went though.  One thing that i didn't like was the background people.  Everyone who was not apart of the story was nonexistent.  If they had a clip of the main characters talking in a public place there was basically these blue outlines of people in the background completely motionless.  It did have an upside though.  I never had a problem determining a character to a background character.

Sound:  Im not really good at determining what was good sound and what was bad but i liked listening to the background noises and everything that was going on.  Also i liked the music they encluded.

Characters:  The characters were really well designed and thought out.  Every characters image really fit there personality.  The character really grow on you and you will enjoy them more and more as the story progresses.  Some of the characters i didnt really care for in the begining but as they began to develop they moved towards my favorites.  Im not going to say who but one of the characters i really hated and didn't want to not even be in the series but at the end was in my top 3

I would highly suggest watching this series.  It had many funny parts, equal action scenes and even somethings that made you think.  The more serious parts are broken up often with several humorous events.  The ending though did bother me and i thought it could have ended better but i didn't hate it.  I did find out that the manga continues further and i normally don't read manga but I'm going to try and get my hands on them and see how they are.  As soon as i have some free time im going to start it over just to see if i can pickup anything i missed or find out something i dont remember.
