The First Slam Dunk

Ryota Miyagi and basketball have always been one thing. His love for this sport was transmitted to him by his older brother Sota, who died in an accident at sea when Ryota was still very young. He is the point guard of Shohoku, a team from the Kanagawa prefecture which gained a spot at Inter-High despite being unknown. Ryota is ready, together with his teammates, to face the “unbeatable” Sannoh, the champion team of the local tournament.

Holy crap this was still as epic as the anime release almost 30 years later but with even more fluid and amazing animation especially the last 20 seconds of Shohoku vs Sannoh game! This is definitely a closure for us kids who grew up watching Slam dunk, it was amazing, nostalgic and deeply touching. Also Miyagi was my fave character back then and Im so happy that he was the heart of the story in the movie, his backstory was too depressing unlike the idiot delinquent we all knew back then. I love him so much more in this movie!
