These are both similar animes in that the main characters are a boy and girl, the boy is kind of taciturn and the girl is warmer and gets him to kind of open up a bit. The plots are also not very different, being that the two main characters and others are solving supernatural mysteries together. I'd say if you liked one you'll like the other.

koburi koburi says...

Ghost Hunt and Shinrei Tantei Yakumo are very similar in style and content, with an aloof, arrogant bishounen and his down-to-earth female sidekick solving supernatural mysteries together and bonding in the process. Both shows share horror themes and a prickly sort of sexual tension between the leads. If you liked one you will probably like the other, though if you only watch one I would recommend Ghost Hunt for its superior storylines, animation, and supporting characters.

NotYetAlive NotYetAlive says...

Both series deals with ghosts or the supernatural. Also they are alike because of the two main characters, which include the bishounen cold sort of guy and the confident down to earth typer of girl. In both series the main guy holds up a front about not caring about the main girl, but throughout both of the series you can tell he does. So all in all, if you enjoyed one of the series you will enjoy the other.

Nicknames Nicknames says...

Both animes have a detective who tries to solve a mystery involving ghosts or supernatural things. Also both have a cold, arrogant guy and a cheerful girl as a main portagonist. If you liked one you'd like the other one.

bunnylovesanime bunnylovesanime says...

Like Shinrei Tantei Yakumo, Ghost Hunt has an young, rude, concided, and smart mouth male lead who has a sweet, naive, and always perky female side kick who is constantly being verbally abused by him.  In both series the the pair solve many supernatural crimes, however  Ghost Hunt is more supsenseful and the crimes tend to be a little more graphic in nature. Both series take the viewer on a journey into the supernatural world. If you like one you will like the other.

Nella Nella says...

Both have your awesome, mystery, and sweet from the inside guy as the main guys. And the caring, funny, cute girl as the main girls . If you enjoyed one, definitely you'll like the other . With their thrill, exiting, scary, sad, and of course the funny moment they have along in the anime .

Both Ghost Hunt and Psychic Detective Yakumo have amazing plots and have to deal with ghosts. If you liked one, im sure you'll like the other.

Both has horror Genre. And some light comedy. Both deals with solving ghost related crimes. Ghost hunt is pretty scary in comparison to shinrei tantei Yakumo. But both has similar kinda feeling, the main charecter is a bit anti social and they both has a girl tagging along with them.

neutrino neutrino says...

Both shows have a similar premise and plot progression.  Both are about a spunky girl who meets a blunt guy with mysterious powers, and the many adventures and people they meet along the way, while their own connection starts to grow.

RoseThorn RoseThorn says...

It has the same part where there is a girl who meets a narcisstic boy who pretends not to care about her while whe falls in love with him. Also there are mysteries involving ghosts where parts of the boy's mysterious background is revealed.

LauraBornn LauraBornn says...

Both anime have a beautiful protagonist male and a slightly naive fmale lead that help the other be a better person and open up more. They also have ghhost hunting themes altough ghost hunt is all about hunting while shinrei has a seperate plot. I personally love ghost hunt a lot more but it might also be bc i love being a bit scared and its nastolgic to me.

hotspot hotspot says...

Both involve a lead male ghost hunter, who's also a detective. While the story is mainly seen through the eyes of the main girl character.

Arietta15 Arietta15 says...

Basicly, they both have the same type of mystery, supernatural uses, and suspense to them. Thier so similar its kinda nice :)

chii chii says...

Both shows are about male detectives and have a very supernatural air to them. Both have an underlying plot to them but are still episodic enough to enjoy any episode for the thrill of mystery. Yakumo is not nearly as interesting or awesome as Un-Go is but you would appreciate one if you enjoyed the other.

eaper eaper says...

These series each focus around a detective wrapped in a mystery that involves a great number of supernatural elements. Also, each series starts off somewhat episodic and becomes less so as they progress. This makes each series a good fit with the other.

scizorg45 scizorg45 says...

Both focus around a male lead with some supernatural ability to help him solve his cases without fail. Both really focus around the whodunnit of it all.

If you liked one, check out the other.

If you tried one of these anime, you should try the other too. There are many similarities between them.

Minjung Minjung says...

Well first of all in both it's a sci-fi detective-like story involving a slightly clueless girl helping the 'detective' figure - who possesses 'unique powers' - solve mysteries. I guess maybe Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro would be a little more on the comedic side though, while Shinrei Tantei Yakumo is a bit more psychological and has a much more serious tone. But as a person who watched both (and also watched Ghost Hunt) I'd recommend people who watched any of these to at least try the others! I quite enjoyed all three series!

hotspot hotspot says...

Both anime involve a supernatural theme to mystery solving, Yakumo is completely serious, while Neuro is a mix between comedy and mature themes.

Although Spiral focuses more around the "Blade Children" (actual people, rather than spirits), the main characters' attitudes are very similar. They are both intelligent, although somewhat unmotivated, and they both use this intellect to "investigate" cases and solve problems.

nevaehann nevaehann says...

I agree with shadowcast, both of these anime's feature male leads that appear confident and sure of themselves but are battling something bigger.  Both use their intellect to solve puzzles or mysteries as well.  If you like one, I'm sure you'd like the other.

Both are really good animes, both have a very HQ art and the tone and theme are pretty much similar, the protagonist's personalities are also similar.

Both are Great. [Take In Mind I only watched two episodes of Yakumo.

Wolframn Wolframn says...

If you liked either Death Note or Psychic Detective Yakumo, you should try other. They're both based on a detective playing the protagonist who is trying to catch the antagonist.

The art style of both animes is smiliar too, the dark themes in both animes are quite obvious.

There's also a lot of deaths in both of them (of course, more in Death Note) and they are both focused on bringing people to justice.

The two main characters (Light and Yakumo) are a lot a like too, although the story-lines and characters are very unique in their own ways.

The sound tracks are also really good and I couldn't tear myself away when I watched either of them. They're both great animes and they would be first on my list if I were recommending to a friend.

i do think those two are similar in tone. The idea of multiple investigations toward something mystical/paranormal and at the same time a continuating plot in the background is also something they have in common. Not much is happening yet it is entertaining enough to be watch completely.

Samurai Champloo

Samurai Champloo

Samurai Champloo is all about style, from the dj-style scratching scene changes to the hip-hop-inspired soundtrack to the eclectic character design. Mugen's fighting style is a funky meld of capoeira and limb-cutting, and Jin is the dramatic foil; he is all steel and old-school samurai style. What binds them together is the desire to test each other's abilities, and a promise to a girl named Fuu: to find the samurai that smells of sunflowers, who plays a pivotal role in her past. Together they travel through edo-era Japan, finding battle and comedy wherever they stop.

I think Code:Breaker and Shinrei Tantei Yakumo are alike because both have the following in common. First they both have main male characters with a special power. Second they both have a female character who doesn't give up or quit after main male character is rude, cold hearted, and generally tsundere against her. Third they are alike because both characters use their power to do what they have to do but aren't thrilled to have to do the task at hand. Fourth, I think the characters are kind of similar in appearance.

I think if you liked the supernatural aspect of Code:Breaker you would enjoy Shinrei Tantei Yakumo (and vice versa)
