To combat the terrorist organization known as "USR", eleven countries combine their naval forces to form the Peace-Keeping Navy (PKN). However, all hell breaks loose when Admiral Red and his USR submarine UX crash the PKN's inaugural ceremony and destroy majority of the fleet. At the last minute, when the UX lands the final blow on the aircraft carrier Apollo-Norm, the obsolete Japanese submarine 707 (a.k.a. "Snapping Turtle") appears from out of nowhere and sacrifices itself to save the PKN flagship. Six months later, Captain Youhei Hayami is called back to duty to lead a new group of recruits and captain an all-new 707 in the war against terrorism underwater.
So we got a good ol' sci-fi 90's OVA's with minimal plot and fairly forgettable action and characters produced by Teoi animation and... J.C Staff? Don't they usually only do crappy schoom romcoms? well apparantly they did some crappy sci-fi OVA's as well and one of them is this little gem? Well not really, I'm sure all 9 (currently) other people whov'e actually seen this will agree that there was a reason it has been forgotten. Story- Now there isn't anything inherently bad about this, its just that it isn't at all memorable. So the story focuses on the crew of this submarine. They're brought to the underwater city of Mu to protect it from invaders. Underwater submarined fights ensue... Animation- This could have easily been a 80's or maybe even 70's anime, but honestly it wasn't really that bad. It was pretty fluid for the most part and the monsters and character designs were fairly decent. Sound- Nothing memorable, average voice acting Characters- Not much to say about the characters, the "main" character Kenji is a fairly brash young officer in what I'm assuming is the Japanese navy. Goro is another one of the navy officers who is more order and kind of acts like the captains aid. The captain himself Yohei, is your fairly average oldman type character. Then theres the Queen of Mu, Chaika who doesn't really do much aside from bring them their to help and Kenji also has this love interest girl but that doesn't really go anywhere considering the length. Overall- Very predictable and only midly entertaining, your not using out on much by not watching this.
