Attack on Titan

Attack on Titan

Over a century ago, mankind was devoured by giant beings of unknown intelligence and origin known as Titans – creatures that eat humans alive indiscriminately and for no apparent reason. The remaining population has managed to survive the last hundred years only by building a multi-walled city capable of keeping the Titans at bay, training military recruits to patrol the perimeter and gather intelligence about their mysterious foe. Eren and Mikasa have lived a relatively peaceful life behind the city's walls, but when a massive Titan appears, smashing the outer barrier and unleashing a wave of terror, their lives are brutally changed forever...

Both anime deal with the main character having to fight a different species. In Owari no Seraph there are vampires and in Shingeki no Kyojin there are titans. Also, in each there is a lot of fighting.

Both have MC's that just want to get stronger and exterminate all of a certain foe due to the tradegy of losing loved ones at a young age

The opening episode from Seraph of the End just screams Attack on Titan. The two are similar in setting, art style and opening sequence. I even heard the main character say numerous times 'I live to kill all the vampires', something Eren was spouting for the first half of season 1 (AOT).

ShowerOfSunshine ShowerOfSunshine says...

Both of the story lines are fairly similar, the main characters in both of these shows want to kill something that has killed their family/a member of their family. Moreover, these shows are both exciting and there is usually something happening in each episode.

ReikoNatsume ReikoNatsume says...

Both main characters are centered around revenge for family/friends that have been killed by other beings.  While still having the excitement of humanity fighting for it's right to live againsted these beings.

In both series the human race is fighting against "monsters" in seraph they are vampires but in attack they hare titans, both are great but attack has more gore and is intense.

Both  animes are set in te world where humanity is in danger due to another race and its extraordinary capabilities (vampires/titans). There is something really simmilar and you will feeel that while watching, but the atmosphere of the animes is quite different. In my opinion "Attack on Titan" is much more tragic and moving. "Seraph of  the End" is definitely more positive. Also the characters are more likeable. Main heroes - Eren and Yuichiro are both young but tough guys who decided to avenge their families and friends in the battle.

MarasM3 MarasM3 says...

They both have to do with main character's whose lives have been upset due to others and who must find power to get their revenge.

Breaky Breaky says...

Altough it's different, there is a similarity between the two regarding the idea of revenge and a supressed human society. The supressors are entirely different, and they actually have a running community in AoT. You get very attached to the characters very quickly and the good ones doesn't always survive. It bugs me from time to time, but overall it's a good anime if you enjoyed AoT.

GhadyK GhadyK says...

The people in both shows have the fear of human race extinction

the main character in both shows have revenge to take for what the enemy did to whom they call their family

and they are both kind of annoying.

the humen live in a small closed area to protect them from the infected outside life.

Anachor Anachor says...

Both have similar plots, with humankind being held down by another species. The protagonists have similar goals (though one is way more irritating than the other). Both lose their families and have their eyes set on revenge.  When it comes to action, AOT wins because they have a Mikasa and a Levi. But if I were to compare the first 12 Eps of Attack on Titan with Seraph of the End, the latter would come ahead slightly.

Michajel Michajel says...

Young boy lost his family bc of evil monsters (which are also trying to kill all the people). Now the boy joins last human army to fight with those monsters. But he has something monstrous inside him too and it's something someone gave to him to have power to fight with those monsters.

Is it SnK? Or Owari no Seraph? Both. Really.

Bugbird1 Bugbird1 says...

I have to admit, the whole time I was watching this anime I kept thinking that I reminded me a little bit of Attack on Titan except less......gory. The tragedy for the characters in both of these shows is similar. However, the big difference is that in Seraph of the End it is a bit happier and that the deaths that do happen aren't so graphic.

darkdiety7 darkdiety7 says...

I loved attack on titan because most of the plot twists ex ____ and _____ being a titan did't keep me at the edge of my seat... it kept me on the floor right in front the tv

SnK and OnS have both similar theme and MC. Yuu and Eren are trying to annihilate vampires/titans, who took their family. Big monsters, badasses aand ... cool intro on both sides, one does not simply skip these intros.

In both animes, the main protagonist's family dies because of a supernatural creature: titans in Shingeki no Kyojin's case or vampires in Owar no Seraph's case. Then he joins the military service in order to get revenge for their family...

DevillAngel DevillAngel says...

Both main characters are driven by their desire for revenge on the beings that killed thier families. Both animes are set up in a similar world in which humanity has been nearly wiped out and they lived in fortified cities for protection.They also begin in similar manner; the main characters family is killed and then we fast forward to years later when they are trying to get revenge by become members of an organizations special unit that is catered to killing the enemy.

From the get go these animes are so similar. A dying humanity either due to vampires/titans where you have this survivor that's lost all of their family and they won't give up anything to fight back and get their revenge. Both are horror and action jam packed.

Both are action packed with an interesting plot line. The character design and animation is beautiful in either anime. Two of my favorites

Both have a very similar theme. Both shows feature a human society that is at the brink of extinction due to some human-eating supernatural figure. The main characters are hell bent of getting their revenge and killing every last creature they see. The main characters rely on friends to continue on. Both shows are gory and dark.

SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!!!

Both characters are orphans (or close to it). They are also the result of human experimentation. Neither main character is fully human.

NegativeSal NegativeSal says...

It's pretty much the same concept besides the whole cannibalism part. They're both intense and has a great feel toward it. Sadly, they both also have such heavy cliff hangers.

exZachly exZachly says...

Attack On Titan and Seraph Of The End both share some parallels, a story about humanity's survival; in both worlds, humanity is at the brink of extinction and is endangered by another species (titans/vampires). The protagonist in both is a young boy who joins a squad to fight that species and to take revenge for losing a family member. In both anime, the atmosphere is a dark and serious one, also the animation style is quite similar.

Both were produced by wit studio. SOTE is basically the same as Aot except in this the ennemy is vampire and not titan.

In both series, humanity has been brought to the edge of extinction thanks to a certain type of humanoid monster. These monsters kill someone close to the teenage protagonist, who vows to get revenge. Both protagonists then join the military, where they meet likeminded friends, including a badass girl, a sweet but somewhat cowardly guy, and a cunning commander, and train to defeat their enemies

Both series also have fantastic music composed by Hiroyuki Sawano, great animation, and have mutiple seasons.

Seraph of the End and Attack On Titan are practically the same things. They both have a giant wall between the monsters and humans. They both have fights at the wall. They both try to destroy the wall. I also feel like they have the same overall goals. Both shows are fighting for something. Seraph of the End is fighting for freedom of the human race. Frankly, I havent even watched Attack On Titan so I'm not quite sure what they want but do not tell me. I just know whatever it is it doesn;t stray from the idea of Seraph of the End.

Both series follow the shounen formula: a hotheaded protagonist loses family/friends to the wills of a supernatural monster and vows to get revenge/defeat said monster with the power of a magic weapon and a handful of new friends. Both series have specialized schools and organizations with the purpose of training youth to defeat the monsters. They also share the theme of demons, though for different purposes, and the main characters are more than normal humans. The soundtracks for both series are products of Hiroyuki Sawano, and both series share great visuals/backgrounds.

Weese187 Weese187 says...

It fits the Shounen theme and the part that most of their close family die and they are out for revenge. The beggining is also similar if you think about it. Starts off light than  alot of bad stuff happens then they make new friends but still out for revenge.

mirrormimi mirrormimi says...

Similar feel, same composer (Hiroyuki Sawano), similar protagonist, both have really dark, and really light moments, but Ao no Exorcist is more light than dark, and Owari no Seraph is more dark than light.It also feels like Guilty Crown (the revolution + school thing) , and Attack on Titan (reveeengeee), which is hilarious because all FOUR of them have the same composer.

Yu=Rin

Ferid=Amaimon

Guren=Mephisto

Shinoa=Yukio

Shiho=Sugura

Yoichi=Shiemi (gender bent huh?)

Mitsuba=Shura

Both animes have the same kickass hero feel to them. While Seraph of the End's plot is a bit darker and Blue Exorcist is more light hearted they share similar qualities. So if you like one, I would definitely suggest you check out the other. Even if when you're done you don't think that they're anything alike, hey in the end you've still watched two awesome animes!!

DevillAngel DevillAngel says...

The main character in both  wants to gain power after losing people they love. In both the main character joins a organization where they are trained to fight in order to take their revenge on the ones that killed their family. The main characters personalities are also similar; both are hot-headed and often rush into things before thinking.

ccallstar111 ccallstar111 says...

There are many similarities. Immediately when I began watching Seraph I thought of Blue Exorcist. Both have a main character that isn't very social or good with others, the main character has a rival who ends up on his team, they fight against supernatural beings using weapons and/or curses, the main character seeks out revenge. Blue Exorcist is more comedic than Seraph of the End, however.

Kind of similar main characters. The main characters Yu/Rin are both in schools which train them to master their skills. Also they have rivals who they butt heads with but then become good friends in the end.

wallflower100 wallflower100 says...

Both shows have plenty of actions and suspense, a strong male character who appears to be careless but is actually  reliable, and all of the characters grow  ore powerful as the series progresses.

exZachly exZachly says...

In both these anime, the protagonists are stripped away of their families and left alone until they join certain organization to avenge their cause with their own hands.

Lost Family in the beginning? Hidden power that a few people know about? Delinquent you get in a fight with on your first day of training/school? Grade difference of having a horrible score and the delinquent you got in a fight with having a perfect score? Demon swords and demon weapons? Being a delinquent like person yourself who doesn't give a shit about school? - These are all things Blue Exorist and Seraph Of The End have in common; Yuu and Rin also both have brothers they deeply care about.

I would maybe go as far as saying Seraph Of The End has more depth to it, but if you liked either one you should definitely check out the other!

HikenNoAsxce HikenNoAsxce says...

Both have two kinds of people. Seraph has Vampire and Humans, Exorcist has Demons and Humans. Both have stories of 2 brothers on opposite sides.Both male protaganist are some what knuckle head and act before they think. Seraph of the End is probably the better one of the 2

Both have similar elements in regards to the perspective. In AZ Slaine and Inaho fight on separate sides of the war, much like Mika and Yu in SotE. This relationship is one of the underlying themes throughout the whole of both shows (or at least the first season of AZ)

phoenixaurora phoenixaurora says...

Both series start off with a bang as humanity is nearly wiped out by a foreign race with superior abilities.  After the first episode, the world is left in a post-apocalyptic state.   Throughout the course of the first cour, Aldnoah Zero and Seraph of the End slowly build up to a climactic confrontation between our protagonist and deuteragonist.

As the humans prepare for war, our black-haired protagonist becomes a soldier in the human army.  Through extenuating circumstances, the blond deuteragonist ends up on the side of the enemies.  Once part of the humans as a gentle idealistic boy, he now fights on the opposite side and is obsessed with saving his childhood friend who is the only person in the world he cares about.  The blond deuteragonist is looked down upon for his origins by his comrades but is the favorite of one of the nobility for a mysterious reason.  The entwined fates of the protagonist and deuteragonist is the driving force behind the dramatic tension of the show.

Aldnoah Zero has mecha and alien powers while Seraph of the End has vampires and demons.  Watch Aldnoah Zero for an emotionless protagonist who fights with tactics.  Watch Seraph of the End for a hot-blooded, revenge-driven protagonist who wields a sword.  As a bonus, both series have Hiroyuki Sawano on board as composer for the OST.

While these two anime do differ in terms of weaponry used, they are very similar in how the story is presented. Half of the story is told through the eyes of a human boy joining the military to fight back a terrible force. The other half is told from the eyes of a soldier of that terrible force who doesn't really gight because he believes in their cause. With both sides having their own reasons for fighting, both series have some amount of politics and military tactics. If you like one, you might like the other.

Reasons you might like Tokyo Ghoul...

phoenixaurora phoenixaurora says...

Tokyo Ghoul and Seraph of the End are action-oriented shows with a side of mystery.  Set in a dystopic version of urban Tokyo, a war wages on between non-humans and the human side represented by a shadowy militant organization.  Within the non-human faction, there are hidden motives and power struggles.  Throughout the course of the first cour, the series slowly builds up to a climactic confrontation.

Kaneki and Mikaela's character arcs are similar in that both were innocent boys turned against their will into beings that feed off humans.  Eventually, both become more ruthless and cold because they realize that sacrifice is necessary to save the ones they care about, especially their best friend who is a human getting caught up in the war between the humans and non-humans.  Both Kaneki and Mikaela refrain from feeding off live humans, instead resorting to alternate food sources.  Still, they take great pains to repress the nature of who they are and resist the urge to feed.  Thematically, both characters symbolize the struggle to survive with their morals intact.

Kaneki's character is also similar to Yuichiro as both are 'special' among their kind and have a strong desire to protect everyone.  However, to realize the full potential of their powers, they must embrace the monster within.

Tokyo Ghoul and Seraph of the End essentially tell the tale of a conflict between two species but with flipped perspectives from each other.  Seraph of the End is told from the human side while Tokyo Ghoul seeks to make us empathize with the non-humans.  Both Tokyo Ghoul and Seraph of the End will diverge from their manga counterparts in their sequel with an anime-original ending.

The ghouls and the vampires in both of these series are alike in some ways, and are both at war with the humans, as humans are their primary food source. Also in both series, we see the point of view from the humans and from the point of view of the ghouls/vampires. In Tokyo Ghoul we see this primarily via Kaneki and Amon, and in Seraph of the End we see this through Yuu and Mika. There's a familiar flow of action and suffering between the two anime.

Both Animes centres mainly around young people/children.

Not only that but there is a main colour theme with both Anime, being blueish green/green.

You also have the OP powers/strengh and magic with certain induviduals aka the main chars of each Anime.

You have a group of friends that have to work together to help with things.

The opening and endings songs are AMAZING with both Anime too :)

07-Ghost

Teito Klein is a former slave who attends the Barsburg Empire's military academy. After seeing and remembering the man who killed his father, Teito tries to kill him and finds himself on the run from Barsburg's military might. Now, with the evil beings known as Kor after his soul, the Barsburg Empire after his blood and only the legendary Seven Ghosts to protect him, Teito must unlock the memories of his past before he ends up as a sacrifice for Verloren, the sealed God of Death.

I haven't seen 07-Ghost in a long time, so please forgive me if this is a little off.

Both anime focus on teenagers in the militry with some kind of werid power or mysterious past. Both main characters have a kind of shounen-ai feeling friendship with another character in which they more or less consider each other family and work ot try and keep the other person alive. Above all, they have a similar feel. So much so that I thought about 07-Ghost for the first time in ages while watching Seraph of the End and had to find it in my anime list to write this recommendation beacuse I couldn't even remember what is was called.

Once I started watching Seraph of the End, I got a 07 Ghost vibe from it right away!

Both anime entail a dark haired hero, who has a homo-erotic "friendship" with his best friend (In which both happen to be blonde).

Other similarities include military themes, the friend being on the opposite side of the battle, but still on the same side as the hero.

They both give off the same vibe.

These seem to either way.

The two stories kind of match up with one another and it's very clear in the beginning of the series, main charcter finds a safe haven and they have a motive for fighting the bad guys.

Generic plot, but they are so similar yet vvery different.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba

Now, all he has left is his sister, and she’s not even human anymore.

In both anime the main character loses his family without one and the two then fighting together. Also there is a supernatural threat (demons / vampires) that they fight against.

The premise for both anime are incredibly similar: the protagonist thinks a family member (Nezuko in Demon Slayer, Mika in Seraph of the End) has died, but in reality they have been transformed into demons. The protagonists join a corps that is dedicated to slaying the very monsters that their loved ones have become.

Like what others had said, it is quite similar.

the protagonists lost their families except for one, then they become hunters/slayers to avenge their families.

I think that's the whole premise anyway.
