I wanted to like this anime. I wanted to see a more progressive less cutesy type of romance. It only had slight drama - surface level drama that gets easily resolved. The story has shown character growth and progression. There was frienship, there was semi angst, there were mean bullies and the like - typical in highschool storylines.  But for a title that says "Say I Love You" - I don't really see it. The relationship part of getting to know, falling in love, to saying I Love You - well it falls flat.

With that said, this show has a melancholy feel to it. I liked the art especially the eyes of the characters. This anime is drawn beautifully and it does lull you into a sense of "oh this is gonna be good" but unfortunately it didn't match expectations.

Slight spoilers below:

I went all in coz I liked the first episode. The FL had some backbone and I thought she will be the strong quiet type. But lo and behold, once she becomes enamored with the guy, it seems like some of her strength left her. But hey it is realistic, I have experienced it personally and seen other girls who go to a more subdued disposition once they are in a relationship with someone. I just wish there was more to her growth than this.

All in all, a good show that was carried by nice visuals and good sound. But I wish the story was better coz it could've been better.

I'm going to be honest. I didn't start this anime series with high expectations. I had just got done watching a sports anime series, so I wanted to keep going with modern storylines before I went back to watching an anime series that takes place during the Edo period. I digress. Overall, this anime was amazing. I cried twice during it, and I finished the whole every episode back to back. This is a series I simply could not put down and take a break from. I will admit that some of the characters can be quite frustrating, so much so that the you start to feel the awkwardness of a situation the way the characters are feeling the awkwardness, but still. A job well done to the creators. I'm not a huge fan of romance anime series, but this is a must-see!

This is very cliche , which dont get me wrong i loved , if you are looking for a cute romance this could fit that list but the ending was bland i was expecting to see at least their faces say i love you to eachother but it was just the sub title but besides that ... the way the relationship developed was cute , they went slow and she soon was able to express herself a little more plus you could tell he really cared .
