Mitsuha is an 18-year-old girl who’s often mistaken for a middle schooler due to her childlike face and small stature. The story begins when she loses her parents and her older brother at the same time in an accident and ends up all alone in the world. She fails her university entrance exams due to the shock of losing her family. There are people who are after her parents’ insurance money. She doesn’t know whether she should go to college or start working. There are also lots of expenses to worry about, including living expenses and the cost of maintaining the house. One day, as she worries about how she'll survive, she’s given the “World Jumping” ability by a mysterious being that allows her to go back and forth between “this world” and an “isekai”! Now that she has this ability, she comes up with a plan for the future in which she saves 1 billion yen in each world for a total of 2 billion yen (80,000 gold coins)!

Yet another extremely average Isekai, except this time we get a stupid story about a protagonist who doesn't really care about the fact that they are in a medieval era, opening up a shop with MODERN items in it. Sometimes, I'm fine with silly stupid stuff like this when the story is actually interesting or funny, but honestly so far it's just a bunch of consequence-free nothingness - 1st thing protagonist does - is open up a shop. That has been done many times before, so on its own is boring. 2nd thing - they prepare food for a banquet. Not original but done in a unique way, a little interesting, but pretty much has zero impact on the story besides making the protagonist known for their cooking. After one connected event the story moves on and casts that stuff aside. 3rd thing - protagonist meets mercenaries randomly, and goes on a trip with them purely for fun. Okay? I guess?? But again, MORE THAN HALF of this anime is basically just short mediocre stories. It's a level of storytelling that's rather worse than in other Isekai. A semi-episodic zero-depth ball of average... The only good things to say about this anime are 1. that the protagonist's personality was clearly well-thought-out and 2. the ending was 'somewhat' satisfying. But let's be honest that's barely anything. At least, not when I have Anime like FLCL on my to-watch list. Take my advice and steer clear of this anime unless your life is miserable and you love wasting time on boring things. Overall, this isn't the worst Isekai, but the persisting trend with Isekai is that they're rarely bad, but almost always mediocre. You'll probably enjoy it! But after watching enough isekai you'll just end up forgetting everything that happened in them. Great time waster, but terrible if you're looking for something worthwhile to watch, or something you'd love to keep returning to for its quality. Nobody is going to be returning to this crap. So yeah, 1/10 story, 6/10 animation (generous rating), 4/10 characters, but the protagonist IS a solid 9/10. Just sadly with such a good protagonist also a good story is needed.
